Questions for those whose sleds are missing track clips

This is just my opinion, but when FM lost alot of clips on his rx-1 the drivers where out of time. The where aftermarket whal drivers. But it is the only sled I have seen chuck clips. Are you guys checking to be sure you drive lugs are in time. Maxdlx

i believe its due to loose plastic caps at the front of the rail in combination with a kinda loose but within tolerance track - the side of the clip catches the 90 degree tip of the clip and yanks it off - i run my track tighter and swaped out the cheap rivet holding the plastic cap on with a bolt and a nylock nut - also ground a "lead" on the tip of the cap to help guide the clip where it belongs on the rail - no problems since then. also added a 4th wheel but that most likely didnt anything for this issue - just helps when you blow a wheel back there
- by the way - the srx outer rear wheel costs 25 bucks and the apex wheel costs almost 100. thats a lot coin for a few extra ounces of weight difference and a slightly different look.

I lost all he clips on one side of the track on my Attak. The other side was missing only a couple clips.

I think this was a Camoplast prob.

My Attak did not have a loose track, the front plastic caps were not the issue. Mine had no gouges that a clip would have caused.

Yamaha replaced my track under warrany. Thanks Yami and Highlands for getting it done so quickly.

I have not tried any wheel kits or any other mods. Just a new track. NO probs w/ the new track yet..

2006 Apex ER. I am one that has had major clip problems. I would lose just about ALL clips in a couple hundred miles on the stock track. Changed the track at about 6,000 miles. after about 2,000 miles on the new track the clips started shredding again, as all but a couple were gone. Hyfax wear is normal and lasts for the most part. No extra wheels. VERY frustrating issue. I have been working with the dealer and Yamaha the whole time. First they felt it was the conditions, next they thought it was the track, now they feel it is the track tension. I am asked to make sure the track tension is in spec as I run loose. So I will try this upcoming season to run within spec. I have also bolted the front rail caps on, which did not make a difference.

I do not know if riding style has any affect, but I am a very aggressive rider. I hope someone can come up with an answer.

Just curious.
Those of you that see the clips wear soon.
Are you running studs? It seems that under marginal/icey conditions studs should help kick up more snow and help with lubrication.

mdkuni-

I feel your pain...it sounds like you are having the same issue that I am. And yes it is very frustrating. I am studded, plastic rail caps bolted solid, no extra wheels. I am going to be tearing into mine before HayDays...I will post back if I stumble across any revelations. But I am thinking about picking up a fully clipped track and trying that. It certainly can't hurt anything (except the pocket book)
