Took Sidewinder RTX SE for it's maiden voyage tonight and put 60 miles on it. Few questions:

When driving 1/2 throttle or more and I cut the throttle abruptly, a 12 inch flame comes out the muffler and lights up the night. Is this normal?

Also got a code SD 08 and noticed reverse wouldn't work. Shut key off/on and everything good. Anyone know the code?

Lastly, not liking the new headlight. First off, the concave design traps snow when powder riding which plugs it up and hurts visibility. Although it looks cool in the parking lot, it does not have any distance when riding as it only shines about 100 feet ahead and then fades out. Also, only 60 miles and inside is fogged up, hopefully that goes away. Will try and adjust and hopefully things improve, as of now my old sno pro provided better vision.

codes are in the owners manual

throttle over ride out of adj .

throttle over ride out of adj

Great idea....will check this first.

Thanks

assuming stock with no mods?

08 is the shift switch .must not have been activated correct

throttle over ride out of adj .
So, this makes it shoot flames out the exhaust?
How do I de-adjust my throttle over-ride? :D

There has to be play in throttle when bars are in all positions. A credit card between throttle block and lever to check gap is normally what I use. That spec would be in manual. If out of adjustment yes you can have flames since ignition is killed like a stutter on drag sled to get your attention and keep sled from going wide open unintentionally.

Well, spoke with my mechanic and he stated flames out the pipe could happen. Keep in mind the sled does not miss/backfire and runs super strong. He stated that the strongest running apexes after a long pull will shoot flames out the pipe due to unburned gases igniting after throttle is cutoff. He actually thought I was lucky as the flames signify a strong running sled!!! When I get a chance, I'll have throttle play measured to rule out TORS issue, but in looking at it, everything appears normal.

As far as headlight goes, he stated that they come from factory set too high and that lowering is should restore my faith. I adjusted it down, however have not had the chance to try it and compare.

The SD 08 code as stated above is listed as, "Shift switch abnormality." Apparently, when I attempted to shift sled into reverse, perhaps the gears did not mesh properly thereby throwing a code. Further attempts would not engage the reverse because the code was present. Not knowing any better, I physically turned the sled by hand and continued home with the code flashing the whole way. What I should have done is shut the sled off and restarted it......this would have reset the reverse actuator/code and allowed the sled to then be engaged into reverse.

Ck for any loose exhaust bolts that could cause a leak. You can actually pull air in the exhaust system which adds fuel to the fire so to speak. Makes flames with any residual fuel.
