I am not sure why but I am having trouble finding info on the following. If you guys can point me in the right direction or help me out I would appreciate it.
How do I change the oil on a 2005 Rage. I have removed the belly pan and the plate and can see the filter. Do I drain it from the filter or is there a drain screw somewhere that I need to remove? Should I run synthetic?
If I want to upgrade the stock skis, what are the best options? Like to ride aggressive trail and plan to moderately stud the sled.
Is there any benefit to running Bosch or other high perf plugs or should I just run stock? How do you remove the plugs?
Thanks for all your help. I know you guys are die hard and I really appreciate the feedback.

Re: Questions
There is a drain plug located on the bottom of the motor, it has a allen head if I remeber, look in your owners manual for the exact location.
Yes you should run Synthetics, seeing your from the mid-west contact sleddheadd about becoming an AMSOIL customer, best oil on the market in my opinion, but I'm biased. Tell him I sent you.
Definatly upgrade the stock skis, depending on your budget you can go the cheaper rout and do the DOO ski swap or spring for one of the aftermarket skis like slydogs or usi, but I have heard great thing on the curve skis (a bit out of my price range though)
Stick with the NGK plugs, you can also get these through AMSOIL if you end up becoming a customer. There has been a lot of discusinon on this board about using the CR10EK's but I never had any luck with them so went back to the stock plugs and runs great. To remove the plugs you need to unsnap the connector at the top of the plug boots/coils, and remove the boots and you will have easy access to the plugs.
I hope some of this information help and welcome to the board.

OOPS!!!! I forgot to mention about having to drain the oil from the oil tank as well. when replacing the oil you are to put 2 quarts in the tank and start the engine and let it warm up for several minutes then add more oil to the oil tank until it reachs the "F" mark on the dipstick. Proper reading of the stick is done by putting the stick back into the hole with out tightening it. (should only take about another quart)
If your sled did not have an owners manual-get one. It has all the toqure specs and fluid amounts and maintainance proceedures

Make sure the gasket on the oil filter does not stick to the filter base. This happens a lot with the filters used on these motors. I didnt check last year and wound up with double oil filter gaskets. After a few hundred miles, I was pumping oil out of the engine on the trail. Not good. G.B.

I believe the drain plug screw has a copper washer on it ......Like others have said depending on your budget a good set of Bergstroms triple points , or Deuce bars will help the steering issue a bit....And yes run Synthetic ..

Regading the ski upgrade ... I would recommend SLP powder pros. I know they are a mountain ski. But they have a very aggressive deep keel to them.
I run a stretched '06 Nytro ... very aggressive with a 1.5" track, so an aggressive ski is needed. The Poweder Pros work great on the trai ... and the added benefit of off-trail capability.
Give them a look!

What does it mean to become an AMSOIL customer - isn't AMSOIL just a fair trade brand? How do I contact Sledheadd and what is his advantage?

Hey Viperpilot, i see you are from chicago- area. we live down by the Nascar track about 35 miles south west of the city.
Here is my input on your rage. my wife has one and we have done some upgrades to it. it is a great sled now! sticks to the trail like a stock car and she can run with the best of them now!. we put 108 1.4" double backer studs down the center and added C&A razors for sksi's and what a difference it has made! her sled is a blast to ride! just this year we added the apex seat and 2" handle bar risers, so we will see how it rides this winter! here are some pics. of her ride.

Also, do not screw in the dipstick when you measure the oil level!

Selddheadd - I sent you a pm yesterday regarding the AMSOIL deal - how do I get involved. Did you need to change the cables out to add the 2" riser? Thanks to everyone for your input.

no need to change cables for the 2" riser anything taller You may need to re-route cables and get a longer throttle cable. pm-ed you back yesterday! Check your inbox!
