so to address the question at hand and not just what silencer I like best as some seem to think this is about. Obviously the smaller cans are going to be louder but what are the options that are out there and how much can one silence thru a smaller can? I think with the turbo in there it is already quieted down a lot so it makes it possible to achieve reasonable sound with smaller can. Is there an option out there that address this. If not the tuners are missing a large market. I don't want loud I do want the extra HP and the access to the chain tensioner.

When I first rode the sidewinder I was amazed at how quiet it is... If I can get that and have it run close to 270hp it'd be a pretty sweet ride for me. "Keep it stock and save the money"??? What is wrong with you?
if you want as close to stock sound level...TD was the first muffler mod on the stock muffler....but seriously...my excell is not loud....watch the comparison (and I can easily adjust my chain)

Exactly my thoughts when I started searching into Mikes mod....And his work is top notch, he is a muffler/exh guy.The Sandale mod stock flowed just as well as their 2.5" option and is almost unnoticeable from stock... That is why that options looks the most appealing to me at this point. When I first rode the sidewinder I was amazed at how quiet it is... I ran super quiets on cat, and Toms.....they are IMO loud, and bothersome over time, and WILL get ticketed in my area. And for same HP you can have a stock modded...quiet. Best of both worlds.

Its not they they are LOUD, that is subjective. But anything other then stock or stock modded, is just NOT QUIET. Or stealth in any way....Now that is fine for a ton of guys, and I did it for yrs....but when you ride a modded muffler for a long trail ride, then jump onto a stock muffler SW, all else being equal....the stock sled is simply so much more peaceful to ride. The fact you can have this sound AND all the HP, is a no brainer for me. Mike spent a ton of time in this design, and its why he is the only one who posted a dyno sheet and lots of testing. His costs more then the others, but with the time he has into it, He deserves it.so to address the question at hand and not just what silencer I like best as some seem to think this is about. Bens mod looks simply amazing too....In fact my guess is they are both almost identical in many ways. But that dyno sheet for me, means everything. I can clutch it to that and be sure about it.
Im looking forward to Dave Marshalls(Hurricane) muffler mod very much too. He does not have any pics out yet, but says he will get them to me soon. It will also be a full 2.5" top to bottom. Dave and Ben have some great pricing too.
It sure would be KILLER if with all this work they put into these muffler mods, if one of them was able to design in a V band connection, to have a quick disconnect and removal of muffler from the outlet...for ease of chain tensioner. Now that would be the guy who sells them all. I just dont think they make enough on these mods, vs a new (off the shelf) muffler they can sell quickly with less labour.

Dan where do you ride? One muffler that hasn't been talked about is the speedwerx. Sound in the video seems reasonable.

There are a lot of great exhausts out there.....
This was the test I did for EVO on their Magnum muffler when it passed DNR decibel levels.

Hope more mufflers could get tested and results posted here.

To me the biggest thing is how loud is a muffler while hard on the gas at the upper rpm range. That's what separates stock from a aftermarket muffler.

My buddy had that muffler on his Winder last year. It might pass the DNR test, but honestly I thought it was extremely loud when I rode his sled. I know I would never run anything that loud on my own machine.

But that is a very subjective matter.
For real trail high miles and no worries for tickets our stock mod is the way to go. We keep a few in stock, ready to exchange for your core.
Super quiet on the 998 is quieter. The 1100 turbo is very drony compared. Heck, I run the TurboForce on my sled and to me it's not that loud at all. I ride it all day. The same muffler would ring my ears on the 1100 turbo.Exactly my thoughts when I started searching into Mikes mod....And his work is top notch, he is a muffler/exh guy.

Go side exit straight pipe plenty of room for chaincase access! Lol works awesome but a TD superquiet will be going on for winter once antisiezed and holes cleaned out with thread chaser the turbo bolts come out no problem I'm still using factory bolts at 2200miles they come out but I ran a die over the bolts and cleaned threads out in turbo also.

True Ben, the SQ was alot louder on that 1100 twin cat, sounded like a farm tractor...haha, I dont miss that at all!
I know in many areas the cops cracking down more then ever, and once you get a 220 fine, its not fun! And hit the wallet pretty hard. They will even look under hood now too, so the stock heat shields with the label better be there. I used to hate that feeling all the time, riding certain areas where you know cops have checkpoints, and just hope they dont hear you coming.
Really no compromise now with a good, well build stock MODDED, as it makes great HP and is quiet too!
