Hey guys, anyone ever experience their fuel guage go funky?
This past weekend we were riding very cold and powdery trails with about 6-8 inches of powder at high speeds. I was following so I was continually in a cloud of dust. I noticed after a while that my fuel guage would read all over the place from FULL to BONE DRY EMPTY, warning lights and everything and this would change all the time.
I looked at the sensor in the engine compartment and notice that there was a whole lot of powder around the plastic portion of the sensor and underneath it as well. I brushed the powder off the black plastic portion of sensor coming out of the fuel tank on the PTO side and it worked OK for a short time but it acted flaky all day. Anyone else have this happen? If so, what was the remedy? Is my sensor finished or was it just the moisture?
Thanks, RXWonder

Try spraying it with WD40. Sounds like you may have a short.

Thanks LB...I will do that then probably let everything dry out and then put some di-electric grease on the connectors. I am also going to put a bead of silicone around the plastic protector to prevent more water from entering underneath.
