I'm having problems identifying the year of sled that I have for the Handlebar issue?
My "certificate of origin" states that the model year is 07 but the date on the c.o. is 04/06
So my question is: Do I have an 06 bars or 07 bars??? I believe the sled was manufactured in 06! BTW the hand warmers don't get warm!

The 06 bars have a 2 piece grip and hook, with the hooks seperate. The 07 bars are one piece. The hooks are part of the grip.

There is a picture of the 07 bars in this post.

The cure for the handwarmers are as follows:
If you have 06 bars (which I personally like better) buy the 07 update kit and plug in the harness only. This fix came from Rocker Dan and I have over 4000 miles since I did this and my hands are toasty with no ECU issues. The key is never adjust the warmer higher than the mid setting. But then you won't need too as they are very hot.
If you have 07 bars, buy a set of 06 bars and put them on. Plug your existing harness in and you are set to go. Again, don't adjust higher than mid setting.

An alternative solution, and the one that worked for me on my 07 Apex, is to get an aftermarket windshield that doesn't funnel air onto your hands. Yet another alternative is some kind of hand guard, like PowerMadd or (better yet) Skinz.

A number of guys have indicated that foaming the Apex bars yielded little, if any more heat out of the bars. The 06 bars with 07 harness seems to be the route most guys are taking.

Your sled is an 07. I have an 06 GT with the factory made update with 07 bars (not Rockerdan's mod). I turned down my warmers a few times last week in Quebec but when its really cold I have to ride with them at full power. Dealer kept my 06 bars when they made the change.

You can just rewire the bars which is described in the hot hands thread.

Your sled is a 07. Find some 06 bars and be done with it.

You don't need the sub lead with an 07. The 07's are already wired in parallel from the factory. If you want to run Dan's mod, all you need is to install the 06 bars with 07 wiring.
I'm still happy enough with my stock 07 setup along with the large Yamaha windshield and Yamaha handlebar pad. The do take a little too long to really heat up, but even in -35° weather I can survive wearing leather gloves without gauntlets. Once it gets below that I install the gauntlets (that live in my trunk) and my hands are toasty warm no matter how cold it gets.

Rex thanks for the reply, The bars on my Attak are the 06 bars! They are 2 piece with the hooks screwed into the bar ends!
I will be installing the sub lead and then all will be good

One of us is confused (it could be me...). My understanding is:
Stock 06:
- Bars are in series and the bars themselves have low resistance heaters (and are designed to run on up to 6V at each grip).
Updated 06 bars:
- A wiring adapter is used to convert the warmers from series to parallel
- 07 bars are installed which have much higher resistance (and need to receive up to 12V at each grip).
Dan's mod:
- Use 06 bars (designed to run on 6V), but run them in parallel (feeding them up to 12V at each grip).
- With an 06 sled you need to install the 07 series to parallel wiring adapter and run stock 06 bars.
- With an 07 sled you need to simply install 06 bars (since the 07's already feed up to +12V to each grip).
Note when I say "up to" I mean controlled by the temperature setting. Cranked up to high, the max power is sent to each grip (6V or 12V).
Since your sled is an 07, if you want to run Dan's mod, all you should need is the 06 bars. You do not need any wiring modification (sub-lead). Just bolt them on and plug them in (and hope the ECU and/or grips don't burn out ever - probably best not to run them on high anyway...).

His sled is an 07 so the sled's wiring is already in parallel and sending 12V to each grip. What he could do is install 06 bars with grips that are designed to be run on 6V each. No rewiring or sub-lead required.
With an 06 sled the mod everyone is talking about is to rewire the bars so each grip gets 12V (parallel wiring) instead of 6V (series wiring). Using the sub-lead from the updated bars, but keeping the stock bars is the easiest way to do this.
