Awh, come on Moose. I would love to see you rip around on a M7!!! That sled would buckle into pieces under your 6'7" frame.....that would be funny. Bent a arms, creased tunnel, bolts flying everywhere

what have you done to your rx to drop wieght? i lost about 70+ lbs off of mine for way less than a 1000 dollars. and if i didn't change the skis you could cut 400 off that bill. the rear skid(24), tool box(5), muffler set-up(20) and battery(8.0) are the fastest and cheapest ways to loose weight. next are the air box(8.0), seat, hood(12) and front susp(8-12) skis(3) i can't really say how well i like it as i haven't been to the hills yet this winter but i know one thing for sure!!!!! it isn't going to handle like my edge chassis that weights in at 450 dry and has 185 h.p!!!!!!!!!!

Rooster, you might be crowing the blues if you have to do 30 km of whoops like I had to last week. I was freaking tired by the time I got to the playground.
I'm getting my courage back up though for this week as I heal my sore bones. We'll be back giviner by the weekend. What exactly is 'hero' snow anyway? I decided to tweak my sled this week and head for the Manitoba TY ride on Tuesday. If I have time, I'd like to stop and see your shop on the way through Saskabush. PM me the directions if you're there Tues afternoon 1ish.
Unless yer going to Valemount like you had said.

LOL that is funny!! my shop in town here is a shed in the back yard!!! my bigger work area is the shop at the farm. i have sent some pretty nice sleds out of this shed in the back yard though. i bet i have built 200,000 dollars worth of sleds in a 10x12 garden shed!! hey you can't say i didn't start from humble beginings!LMAO
as far as riding the sled on whooped out trails the rx rides pretty nice but a big improvement is a differant set of skis with either a dual keel (simmons) or a short rockered keel (slps) that keeps the handle bars lighter and it darts way less. i also run small diameter rods on my powder pros. the rear skid helps out a fair bit also!
hero sno is snow that is set up enough so as to let everyone drive their sleds right to the rocks and everyone makes a high mark!!! or when you can't find a hill that is a challange. 4 inches of fresh on top of a hard base would be concidered hero snow!

Yeah, I have Simmons. Trouble is, with the weight transfer straps replacing the rods at the back, one side effect is loss of coupling. I find that the front of the skid bottoms quite easily now because it doesn't couple up any more and share with the back at all.
I haven't been able to find a good solution to this as of yet. Any suggestions?
I get pounded and have to take it really easy so as not to break anything on the trail whoops.

I always find it easier to blitz the whoops, MX style, for as long as I can. Then I take it easy for a few and go again. Don't know how it would work with the strap setup but my son has that on his MM7 and does the same, but he is a lot lighter than me. Keeping the skis light with the throttle and skipping across the tops works pretty good, as long as you are not too tired from a hard day of riding.

Put 2" of extra foam under the seat-cover, that with a holz skid really takes the bumps great. But as soon as you have worked the rear out you will find the front to weak and need to improve there. I hear the Fox Floats work great , very progressive. Anyone have any experience with them?

I went from the lightest mountain sled to the heaviest and I do notice the difference when pulling the front end around. Its not a big deal like some guys make it out to be but I will take the extra weight and a turbo over that M7.
weight
As far as weight I find it not to be an issue as the 05 mtn vector is so agile
it is very pleasant to ride. Do notice a little when hill climbing alot but I presume my body will adjust and get stronger where I need to be.
Clutching sucks and hate the semi clipped track

I came across a good deal on an 05 and bailed. I'm going to Revy this weekend to try it out and see if they're any better. It feels better around home so far.

Sure Weight does make a difference when you riding Hard...Bodocking (not sure how to spell I English is not my native language), jumping and so ON...
I have 05 Rev 800 Renegade and 05 RX1 Mnt...Both sled are nice, Rx1 does feel heavier...When riding quitely not a big difference...But when riding hard...You feel the weight of RX1 over jumps and Bondloocking...
Although bodocking in Rx1 is nicer due to narrower ski stance more easier to go on a side, but is not a stable over bumps and jumps as a Gade...
When I rode all day my RX1 Mnt after REV, my body started sore agian (like at the start of the season)...
Yes I spend more energy operating RX1 then my Rev...+ Rev sitting posotion is so much better the Rx1's...
06 Yammi's will have rider forward postitions and this will another +...
Millage when riding hard is about the same 800 powertek does 70-75 to tank and RX1 80-85 miles...Not much difference to me...
I would only get RX1 Mnt for Mountains, If I would put a Turbo into IT...Other wise I would prefer lighter 2 strokes...
Or If to shave off 80Pounds of stock RX1 then it would be better then any 2 stroke...

praire dog, i took my sled to the hills a week ago and i loved it! my other sled is a 450 lb 185 h.p well ballanced edge chassis and the rx is relatively close to in in its ability to be manuvered during a climb. i dropped about 75-80 lbs off my rx and i could drop another 25 with out much trouble. i have a m7 rear skid in it and a 162 attack 20 track on it. i truely think once i add the turbo this will be the most reliable and best sled i have ever owned. i now hind site is 20/20 but if i were you praire i would have held off till the apex came out and bought one of those.

The 05 rides pretty good. The new skid makes all the difference.

The Ski Doo 1000 is pretty much as heavy as the RX 1ton
I hear Little about Happy 1000 SkiDoo owners unless they have a MOD one
Same About to RMK 900 even less Happy owners
I have Not Always Been Happy with my Still stock RX1 but the cost of running it always reminds me of why i am somewhat happy I bought it.
Over time i have learned How to Dig it out rather than lift it out and at the end of the season I still decide to KEEP IT
I just wish iy had a better trade value as I think the NEW APEX is an AWESOME Sled that was what I had hoped to have in the First place. I Love the Fact that My motor is Probably Not what will leave me stranded in the back country
from not running. The lightest RX 1 Titanium I have seen is still fairly hefty And I am sure He still gets a Hand getting UNSTUCK like every one does
