I have removed my chain case cover and dropped the rear but I'm having a hell of a time removing the jack shaft. I took out the speed indicator housing and removed the bolt from the middle but that thing won't budge!!
If you are trying to remove the skid there is no reason to remove the driveshaft...or the chaincase. Loosen the track as far as possible and remove the six bolts the hold the skid into the tunnel. You'll want to support the skid while you remove the bolts so that you don't twist or bend the tunnel. Backing out the bottom bolt on the transfer rod helps greatly during reinstallation.
