rear supension on ltx le

Thanks. Do you have the measurement?
No, sorry didn't write it down. Measured the 14 then the 17 and saw they were within a few ten thousandths of each other and called it good. Basically the paint thickness is the only difference I would guess. Gloss white powdercoat.

I get .256/6.5mm on my RTX SE 129 Viper was told the 137" rails were thicker by .024 but maybe they always were. Bummer. Just trying to find some more positives for you guys. Thanks.

If I ever get my call I'll measure it up.

I don't know but I'm really unimpressed and annoyed with the whole deal.
I knew I should have stuck with my original thought about the RTX Instead of the LTX.

I feel your frustration..but I feel somehow Yamaha will make it right..

Yeah well the real pisser is not coming forward with what I thought was the truth. Should not have to beg or demand.
ComeOn Man!!

I went LE for two reasons. QS3 and the RR. I ride some in PA when conditions permit, so it was a good fit for me. I looked tonight and the LE page on the Website no longer mentions "race" and the description is totally different than what I posted just over 2 weeks ago in the production thread. I am disappointed. Yamaha needs to make this right. Throw the darn goggle bag out for all I care(although don't say it if you aren't going do it, or at least make it right) , but this one matters. Seems to be a key point when you are dropping the kind of money we did. :whine:

I've been quiet about the LTX-LE skid controversy so far but since they have changed the description the website I had to speak my peace. They have back pedaled and have removed the "race" specs from the description of the skid and have spun the description of the skid as the shock package makes the skid different than the other SW models. Totally bogus for anyone that ordered the LE models expecting what was advertised on the website and the literature that was passed out last spring. The race spec skid was one of the main reasons that I ponied up and ordered the LTX-LE.

Here is the specs on the skid that were on the Yamaha website when they posted the specs last March when the spring Power Surge began:

  • Dual Shock SR 137 Race Rear Suspension
The drop-link style Dual Shock SR 137 Race rear suspension is a competition-grade strengthened version of the standard Dual Shock SR suspension package. It is the next generation result of years of punishment and development in snocross and cross-country competition. This “crossover” suspension offers premium bump compliance and control on trail, additional bump bridging capabilities thanks to its stretched length, and additional floatation and traction for occasional off-trail use. The SR 137 is a “coupled” suspension that utilizes a unique “sliding” front arm mount. With up to half-inch of movement at the front arm “slot”, the system allows the suspension to deliver controlled (reduced) ski-lift during acceleration while still retaining front arm bump compliance.
Here's what currently on their site:
  • Dual Shock SR 137 Rear Suspension
The Sidewinder L-TX LE uses a 1.5" centre and rear 2" FOX ZERO QS3R shock with KASHIMA coat, offering one of the most capable suspension packages available in stock trim. With a half-inch to slide freely under acceleration and deceleration, thanks to a unique front arm slotted mount design, the Dual Shock SR suspension keeps the track planted for maximum grip under full throttle or full braking. The rear axle features a conjoined rear wheelset. The ingenious design is lighter, more durable and more rigid than most traditional rear axle wheels.
You can make your own decisions on what's fair but I feel duped. No mention of strengthend parts on their revised version. Why would they even bother to make any changes to the specs on their website now after the early order period is over?

I'm still waiting on my ltx-le......this is a major piss off, I was expecting the beefed up skid, drilled rotor, don't care about some little goggle bag......the rear skid and rotor are pretty serious marketing error......that is what enticed me get a spring order....not sure what Yamaha is going to do if anything but I guess soon enough we'll find out how they treat their customers............

Wow they changed it sometime in the past 2 days. LOL Do they really think that makes it ok? So I guess when we call to complain they will go "I don't see that listed".....Really?

If you have an SE or DX you still have a fight... I don't dare say more for risk it may change for you. Just do your reading :)
