Remapping update

Well 70mi on tonight after reflash. I think it must relearn after the flash. First few starts were not great. Two tries. After about a hr starts were instant. Just turn the key all the way and it starts. My buddies 7000 same . Fires right off. His was a consistent bad starter. Moving on. Hopefully good to go.

My 14 RTX seems much better since update! Although its only running in garage! Where is the snow? I will say I'm not hooked on being able to turn sled over with "Kill switch" In? Nytro you cannot turn sled over with Kill Swith In!

Was out once, about 50 kms, temp just above freezing. No issues starting or idling, last year at this temperature would have had a few hard starts. Because we were riding on a limited stretchH of trail, we stopped and started a number of times.Heading out for a short ride today, will see how it is today.

Picked up my sled from the dealer yesterday after having the remap done. Starting it cold at the dealer it idled fine. Once I had it home I went for a quick ride and noticed that once it was hot the sled idled like crap. It idled smooth before the remap but now the RPM hunts up and down 70 rpm. The sled sounds like it has a big cam in it. Not sure if this is related to the remap but to make matters worse after about a ten mile ride the sled threw five codes and shut off on me.

P0031, P0562, P1689, P1685, P1692 are the codes. The sled will turn over but won't start now. Looking up the codes online it seems to be an electrical issue. Ended up having to throw a crazy carpet under the track and push the sled half way across a field to the road to load it up and bring it home. Buddy bought a new XRS Doo and didn't want to tow it because he is still breaking it in. FML

I also threw a trickle charger on the battery thinking it may be weak. Battery checked out ok and the sled still won't start.

My sled, after reflash, idles up and down as well. Sounds like crap, like its starving for fuel. I rode it 500 miles 10 days ago before reflash, only had time to put 10 miles on it after update. Time will tell.

this seems to be really hit and miss as it was before the reflash was released. Mine started fine hot and cold before the reflash, and even better now. Really makes me wonder whats going on in the minds of some of our vipers. The only time i noticed an idle that sounded like it was choking out was when We unloaded last weekend. It was fairly mild out and i was letting it idle while i got geared up in the trailer and ran into the gas station for water and gatorade. Came back to the sled and it was choking out but it had got a little warm and was warning me of high coolant temps. shut it off had a smoke fired it back up and all was well for 100k afterwards

I'm wondering if mods that are related to the exhaust, intake, cooling system, or engine itself have an effect on this refresh or the original mapping? I have an OSP racing can and I know a lot of you have intake mods or rad deletes. Perhaps this refresh is effecting us differently due to such things? Only other thing i could think of is air density. Cat's electronics super sensitive to such a thing???? :dunno:

Small rant here.............What the heck is up with all these re-flashes? Yamaha is not alone. I see all the mfgs doing the re-flash campaign. I thought they All go through a bunch of testing. Obviously not enough. I bought a Yamaha, well, Catmaha, because I thought these power plants we tested and proven long ago. Right now, my sled is just a garage decoration. 41 degrees with light mist! We now return, to the previous program, already is progress.............

When doing a reflash on anything certain precautions must be taken. Years ago I had a dealer blow up my ecu on a ski doo 1000 doing a reflash, they bought me another. If you have issues AFTER the first few hours on a reflash I would certainly take it back to the same dealer to fix, might have been there fault but might also have been conditions (interrupted power, low battery power in the laptop doing the reflash...etc). If you notice most computers that allow a bios upgrade (reflash) have you save the old bios first just for this reason. So don't be afraid of the reflash because it is under warranty!

Mine does idle a little different than before the reflash, my son's 2015 idles the same, no bogging or hesitation, hot start problem fixed for sure. Not concerned about it at this time,
not starting was a bigger issue.

Interrupted power or signal should cause a fail in download if the ECU patch software is done correctly. I know that my dealer had one on a Viper ECU and the download took many times longer to complete, hung up at 98% complete, and then failed. Yamaha is replacing that ECU. They have a small quantity of spares set aside for reflash issues.

I am very comfortable with this reflash, one sled is in now, second sled next week!

I rode my sled for the first time last saterday at a hillclimb. I had the update done the Friday before. When I was idling my temp was up around 190 so I shut it off but then 5 minutes later I tried to restart and it wouldn't fire just crank...... So I'm hoping when the trails open I can put a few miles on and see if it happens again.

Before reflash had a serge at idle every few seconds, now has a barely noticeable one at about every sec.
Also cuts in at about 191 and is still on at 185, I like this better. Before cut in at 194/195 and not sure when it cut out.

My sled started and ran flawless every time last year. Should I avoid the reflash? My only concern is, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Is this a wise decision?

I am in the same boat as you. I think I will hold off unless something comes up.
