A reverse bearing puller should pull it out.

Yeah! That's what I was talking about.

I pulled the shaft out and tried pounding it out but that didnt work, went thru 6 cutting wheels and barely made a dent in it. in going to have to find a reverse bearing puller in the morning. are there any bearings I should be changeing as long as I have the chaincase apart??

bearing

once its scored it should braek now as bearing materal is very hard. then it can be fished out. as the harder steel beak,s just like cast iron .

bearing

the bearing is the same it,s the coller and lock nut that,s new from the 04 and newer sled,s. just look up those parts.

1 Dumb question. I am also changing the bearings in the chain case. The lower bearing was sealed towards the chain, but open towards the inner axle seal. Should I reinstall it the same way, or have it open towards the chain so lube can flow to it?

I have had the same incident with the jackshaft bearing.I did the lock collar update and changed the bearings. Another thing you'll probably want to check is the jack shaft. I had to replace the jackshaft as well. I had previous episodes of jackshaft bearing failures . If you have not noticed is that jackshaft is gun drilled or hollow. The heat from bearing going out may cause the jackshaft to warp.

I rented a hammer blow type puller from Auto Zone. Put the 'arm hooks' through the bearing/jackshaft hole and hammer slide it out. Only took one slide for mine.

wow that isnt much.mine has 7000 miles and no bearings yet.one of my friend has an 03 and blew the same bearing as you's guys for the first time but he had 20 000 miles,im just wondering if i should change those bearings before they go bad or should i be good for 10 000 miles.

You can grease those bearings the same as the speedo bearing. Just take a dental pick, remove the hardened seal and pack grease into the rollers while you're turning the shaft. Yea, you could buy new, but often regreasing at regular intervals works fine.
