I'm looking to get rid of the key on my Apex. I'd like to have just a on/off switch and a starter button. Has anyone done this or have any ideas what would look and work good?
Should be fairly easy. There are only 4 wires going to the switch (if the Apex is wired like the Phazer). Two which gives power to the ignition and the other two to engage the starter. You should have a 4 prong plug that goes to the existing switch. Just a matter of unplugging it and connecting the new switches to the plug. If the wiring is the same as the Phazer, the black and brown wires are for the ignition, the red/yellow and blue/white are for the starter.
Thanks for the help. I'll double check the service manual to verify wires before diving in. I'll check around to see if I can find a starter button or on/off switch to fit nicely in the stock key spot.
