Just realized I got a nice 3-4" or so hole worn through the front left side of my hyfax. Right side is almost through as well. Bumming. I only got a little over 1000 miles on my Nytro. Wear seems a little premature to me.
We still got about two months left in our season up here in the PacNW, so I think I should replace them asap. I guess the big question would be, what kind of damage to I risk if I don't replace the hyfax for another 200-300 miles (mostly pow/climbing/boondocking, maybe 20% trail riding)? Thats probably what I'll end up doing by the end of the season.
I plan on replacing the Maverick with a Powerclaw this summer anyways, so I could care less if that track gets shredded. I'd actually like to burn that POS Maverick track and dance on it. I did notice some wear on my drivers as well, just a little plastic worn out to the outsides. Should I be concerned? Alignment of my track seems up to spec.
Anyways, can anyone recommend a good replacement non Yamaha hyfax? Preferably something I won't have to replace in another 1000 miles.
Thanks in advance.

I switched to Polaris hyfax (little cutting required) when I got the Ice age rails, they only come in white but they last forever. I would change them, likely the clips will get so hot they will melt your drivers and your rails will be pooched. You will be looking for a tow or heli ride home. Also loosen off your track a couple full revolutions yamaha spec is way too tight. My srivers looked exactly like that before I put avid's on.

I-90 can get you cheap replacements from WPS. The stock yamaha parts are really expensive.. like 60 bucks a pop. Looking at your drivers, it almost looks like you have hyfax material on them, might want to take a closer look.
As far as damage, you can screw up your rail to the point where you will need new ones, guessing 100 a pop at the very least, you can also separate the hyfax into pieces and eject them from your sled all cool like, unless it gets stuck and locks up your track though..
I replace my hyfax every year, at least, sometimes even before spring riding. Baker days and gravel riding with poor hyfax = expensive days! Pay now or pay later... either way you got to play.. I am on my second set, and they will need replacing in a couple of months too..

The plastic from your melted sliders is built up on your extros. Mine looked the same this fall after melting two sets of sliders in poor conditions last year. I scraped/pulled the plastic off and they were fine this season.

I switched to challenger track (clipped every second window) this year, and hyfax is still awesome after 1,000 km's. I used 3 sets last year in 1,500 km's with the Maverick. I still think the Maverick ported clips chew up the hyfax when it gets warmed up and then it sticks to the drivers.........

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Trying to replace them by this coming weekend. Definitely don't want to mushroom my rails. I called around and most local shops are telling me it'll be a week till they can get them the yamaha ones in stock. We got another 2ft+ storm brewing by Wednesday and I don't wanna risk riding on these much longer, but I have a hard time turning down a pow day.
Could anyone point me to a shop/web site that I could get WPS sliders shipped quick? What about Port Yamaha? I haven't used them before but I found the part on their site really easy.

UGH, WPS is on backorder. Yamaha is going to take at least a week. Looks like I might be SOL. If anyone has any connnections, or might know of how I could get a new set of slides by Friday please let me know ASAP. I'd pay overnight shipping. Already missing out on a foot of new today.
call michelle at oregon trail polaris, cat, yamaha. she is known as freeagent on snowest, she will have the hyfax in stock and will send them out asap. she is an awesome customer service person.
any yamaha dealer with their salt should be stocking these hyfax. ski

Want peace of mind? Spend the money and buy the Hyperfax!!! They're pricey but worth every penny! You'll never have to worry about them again! I've had them on my APEX since it was new (2,600 miles now) and they still look like they are fairly new and I don't run scratchers. I'll run them on any sled I own from now on. Cheers!

WPS = Western Power Sports located in Idaho, US. A great place for winter and summer parts, accessories, clothing, etc. You can either go to their web-site or your dealer should have the catalog or even some of the vendors on here might have help for you. http://www.wps-inc.com/wps/WIHOME1.pgm
