My track looks good but passing the 10,000 mile mark this winter I'm sure the track clips are about done (just missing 1). Anyone replaced these clips? There are not that many (clipped every 3rd) so it doesn't appear to be a huge job. Anyone recommend a tool to install the new clips on this track?

time to change tracks before you"re stuck out in the boonies, and hopfully nothing go's wrong when it blows! I would not put a nickle into a track with 10 grand on it, but thats just me?

I like the title, and yes that is a tongue twister! But I concur with Honk here -- you've gotten ur money's worth outta your track with 10k miles on it and id just install a new track. It may look to be in great shape, but to some degree it's preventive maintenance replacing a high mileage track IMHO.

I just bought another apex gt the 08 and it had 5400 miles on it,with only 96 studs down the middle,on round backers with short nuts. it lasted me 120 miles and i blew the side out of it,taking with it,my rear connector pipe, which sprung a leak, before i could get it home. So if it were me,spend the 400 bucks on a new track, and maybe get another 10,000 trouble free miles

Yep, What he said too! did the pipe brust right at the bend where it rubs on the tunnel? I put a couple pieces of rubber in there to stop it. it was rubbed half way through.

To answer your question, I bought an installer from Spankys for about $40. It works well. It's like a small vise. An air wrench speeds up the install. I've got 15,000 miles with 144 studs, and my track is still in good shape. I replace about 8 clips a year. Spankys also has clips.

good luck with that 15,000 mile track. I for one don't want to be on the sled when it blows, can be a real bad seen, hopefully your not in a high speed tight trail situation! Bad things happenin Quick man! and YOU got ZERO control!!

Some guys take care of there stuff and maybe dont ride as hard. I have a 98 MXZ 500 with the original track on it. That being said I bought my clips from a local dealer and he lent me a tool to put them on you squish them in one position and them squish them again in the second position. I ended up clipping mine every window. It took about 3 hours to cut out all the windows with a razor knife and clip all the unclipped bars. Its not real bad at all

Thanks for all the coments. A new track was the other alternative and I had been thinking about that as well. Anyone have a good idea what a new 136" ripsaw cost$?

Yeah you can get them cheap, I got a 121" for $350 shipped off of ebay, I have a 136" on my sled and was noticing prices and they really were not that much more. Try tracks USA and EBAY.
Do a google search. I found many places for less than tracks USA. MFGSUPPLY.COM has it for $425, just to name one. Some of the advertisers on this site have good deals. CBPerformance is another.
