Ride report 2006 Apex GT

Excellent report!

I felt the same way when I had to get off the Apex to ride the RX1 in the spring. If you rode the RX1 first, it was great! If you rode the apex first and switched to the RX1.....I would just count the minutes to get to the Apex again.

I'm coming from a 98 SRX as well to my new Apex Gt. It will be nice to have some suspension..Anyway I was worried that the SRX would still perform better in the groomed twisties..Since its lower and a 2 stroke and probably 20 pounds lighter..What are your thoughts?? I think everywhere else the APEX will shine..

k98srx, how are the conditions holding up there in kalkaska, i was going to head up there this weekend to get some break-in time on my attak, i have 10 acres near m-66 and west sharon rd.

I bet dollars to donuts that the weight distribution is better on the Apex, and after you factor in the better riding position, the Apex will actually feel lighter than the SRX.

Thats a good point..I hope your right..Just my way of thinking is that being lower is better for carving faster turns...

I would agree. I was able to easily keep up with my buddy and I never even shifted my weighyt in the seat. It must have to do with the distribution because you are sitting higher but it was less tippy for me. I believe I was faster in the twisties on the Apex than I would be on the SRX. At the very least I would be able to stay equal but with a lot less effort.( remember I only rode 35 miles though)

As for the conditions in Kalkaska, I am 200 miles away and I only drove up, rode, and drove home. A buddy called me from Traverse and told me it was a good thing I rode Fri. night because by Sat. afternoon it was all gone.

The srx is an awesome trail sled. I was never able to ride trails faster than when i was on my buddies srx.

Yeah I'm gonna miss my SRX...It was a real bonding experience having it for 8 yrs..We shared alot of good times together..When the unexpectant turns would come up with no signs and she would bail me out..And I would just have a huge grin on my face..Or getting lost on the way to North Bay..Arriving at 4 am through ice storms..Needle well below empty..Where your too afraid to even look at it any more..Somehow still make it..It was tough to let her go..Now I have the new shinier one named GT..Two headlights, electric shock..Hope its a beutiful thing...lol I should probably get a G/F..Hmm well maybe in the spring..LOL

You can say that again. Last season I had to get a cortozone shot in my shoulder after 4 days in Quebec on my SRX. God how I dreaded pulling it over at sub-zero temps.

;)!
