I am going to visit a buddy who just moved to Madison in February and I have never been there before so I figure the sled with go with me. I hear there are good trails around the area. Where is best place to jump on and ride?

IMO, probably one of the easiest places to take off from with plenty of parking is on the east edge of Verona where the Military Ridge trail starts. Right at the intersection of Hwy 18/151 & Business Hwy 18/151.

From there you can branch off the 'Ridge and go pretty much anywhere around the Dane, Green, & Colombia Co. area

The place I'm talking about is in the NW Quadrant section of the map, right under the bold red "Sugar River" where the yellow Hwy 18/151 comes into Verona. There is a blue "P" for parking marked there.

Look here for a detailed trail map.... http://www.danecountycouncilsnowmobilec ... ndex.shtml

If we have good snow then, you can't beat the NW & NE quadrants for excellent trails & great scenery. A loop around all of Dane Co. is roughly 170 miles ( this is taking the shortest route possible) and will take you most of the day if you only stop for lunch & gas.

Great. That sounds awesome. Thank you
