Ripsaw track noise/slide wear etc.

srvfan- I meant to say that 70 was the slow end of the range when going around corners. Maybe there is not enough snow getting in and the heat keeps building. I will check the temp of the slides. You should try some wider open trails some time, it's fun. But take exta sliders.

All in all this is a good move undecided.... i cannot speak too much about the wear pad but at least one guy overhere has done both and prefer the full track opening. One thing for sure is that mine was fully clipped last year and this has improoved the hyfax wear by much.... but not enought to forget to keep an eye on it. This is why i retrofit my 2005 with a set of 2006 rail, that can accomodate 4 more wheels in the back. Bingo... that has done the job... i am a trail man, mostly riding 2, 4000 km since i did the mod, no significant wear since. Now i hear from the dealer that last weak Yamaha has lowered the price of its 2006 like rail set ??? AhAh!

difefrent rails huh??!! hmmmmm dealer is checking into adding more wheels on my Vector

oh wait..you have a Venture so the new rails wont work for me

2k on original slides. i think i will be able 2 get another 500 to 1k on them. i also have a 1.5"track. run anywhere from 40 to WFO. also due to logging this year have had to run lots of pavement. do not understand why all the problems with slides. i run into the powder evry so oftento put snow in the skid.i run my track looser than spec also. have you guys thought of scratchers, know a few that use them and swear by them.

I dont understand why you guys are having so much problems with slide wear. I have a '06 Rage that I picked up Dec 1st. It now has 1850 miles on it and the slides show very little wear. I have been riding Yamaha's for many years and usually found a way to reduce most wear. The first thing I do is loosen up the track tension. I dont care what Yamaha says, they run them too tight. I also add the 4th wheel kit and the little wheels at the front of the rails. My old '99 Vmax I would change them at 6000 miles if they needed to be changes or not. ;)! :4STroke:
