Roest racing skid plate

So 1 ride with the skid plate and mine collected a bunch of snow and ice in between the a arms and bowed the plate down. It is still intact under the motor and no icing concerns there just right in the big void in the subframe. I will remove it and cut a nice hole in the middle to let the snow out!! Other than that it is a great product and 30x better than the stock one!!!

mine always loads up with snow and then ice . i have yet to see it bow .

I'm really happy with mine. Roest plate 1 / Evil rock 0

Roest plate has been great. It does pick up snow up by the A arms and I could see it getting bent if the front of the plate isnt bolted. '08 nytros dont have the reinforcing plate to mount to. I attached a bar up front (as recomended) on mine so the front is secure. Great product.

I too have the Roest Plate and no issues. But I also have a 2010 subframe, so it's mounted up front too. I highly recommend the Roest Plate. Top notch quality and easy to install.

That is the problem is that mine is the 08 subframe and the bar he provided has just bent down. I am not so sure that the plate is bent just not holding tight to the front.

not try to knock the quality of the plate. I just think there needs to be a hole there to let that snow out so it does not build the ice.

i have an 08 with the new sub frame and mine has bent due to ice build up,, plate is still fully functional and way better then the gay palstic one i bought first... its just slightly bent near the a arms area,, honestly the fit just isnt as good as it was...
roest plate fits amazingly and dosnt look like it will bend much more because the ice has found a new way out through the steering boot..

ultimatly all i have to do is fix the snow that fills my nose cone some how..
i hope the hardware will hold for no.w that ice is amasinly tuff

I haven't looked at mine since the last ride, but I used a small angle iron to brace on top of the subframe. I have bad feelings about putting holes in the Roost plate. Have to agree though, ice is a powerful thing.

I braced mine up front at first with a piece of flat bar which bent on the first ride. I've replaced it with 3/4" square tubing which is working very well.

Has anyone let Peter know that this is a problem? I'm sure he's open to suggestions and comments as well.

I have spoke with peter and I may just go pickup something stronger to hold it place but i would still like to have a 1" to a 1 1/2" hole in the plate to let that snow and ice out.

The same thing happens. One day or two isn't bad, but the picture below shows what happens after 3 consecutive deep powder days in the cold. I have yet to see if the bolt snapped or if it bend the subframe bracket it attaches to.

This is a very frustrating issue.....

update I drilled a 2 1/2" hole in the center of the plate but no success in keeping the snow and ice and out. I feel that the skid plate is a cause to the nose cone filling up with snow because prior to the skid i did not have a problem with the nose cone filling up with snow. I would like to see this plate made to look like the stock one and leave the portion between the aarms open.

My plate still looks good and i did get some ice through the hole but did not work like i anticipated.
I am getting alot of ice out of the steering boots as well.
