Has anyone used the factory Yamaha one? Do you need this kit if you just roll your nytro on it's side or is it only if you roll it completely over? I seen the Jacobsen one advertised on here, any advantages of it over the Yamaha accessory one? Thanks for the help. Great forum!!

This is a must for all 4 strokes if you ask me..

I run the OFT tether kit on mine, and its just fantastic. Good quality and easy to mount. I have the kit with the pro armor tether, wich looks way better than the Yamaha one. Last weekend i tipped the sled on the side and the tether kit shut of the engine and closed the valve.. I believe the sled was upside down for about 5 minutes before i got it turned around again..

I believe the Yama kit is more like a regular tether that is easier to tear off than the pro armor one.

Here is a link for the OFT kit w. Jacobson valve.
Oh, and its actually cheaper than the Yama kit!

Good luck on your decision! ;)!

Due to the placement of the breather tube on the oil reservoir, rolling the sled on its left side (beyond 90-deg) will let out more oil faster than if it rolls to the right. Rolling on to the right side keeps the exit of the breather tube above the reservoir thru more rotation. If your sled is completely track up it's all coming out.

Also it will pump the oil out much faster if the engine is still running while the sled is on it's side. Due to the constant air flow out through the breather hose that occurs during normal engine operation.

Primary difference between the two kits (FSS/YAM) is the Four Stroke Solutions LLC unit has a flashing LED. It flashes any time the shut-off valve is closed.
It serves as both a warning light and a reminder light to either plug the tether back in and start the sled, or turn the key off after the sled is back to rubber side down.
It's kind of handy if I happen to be taking a breather after getting my sled un-stuck, and I look down and see that the LED is still flashing, it's reminding me to turn the key off! ;)!

There are some other differences in circuitry as well. Both connect to the sled and operate in the same maner.

The Four Stroke Solutions kit has a limited 2 year warranty on parts as well. ;)!

I think I am in for one of these. My only question is where to mount it. I have no room on the bars to put anything. I do have a Lake effect riser on the sled, would it fit in the middle of the riser?

I have a gps, the pro armor tether, a boost gauge and a mountain strap fitted on my bars. You'll find a place for it..

Here is a pic of my buddys placement; He placed it on the right side, while I have it on the left side (thats the only place i had enough space..)

I have a tiny space left or in the riser. how big is the teather?

I don't know the exact size, and the sled is on the mountain so I can't measure it for you either..

But if you compare to the throttle handle you get the idea..

It is also possible to mount the tether down by the ignition key or by the cig-accessory plug. Don't be worried about not getting it mounted properly.

I don't like having anything on my bars so I mounted mine in front of the gas tank cap. I've been running it this way for a while and really like the location of it.
