Nothing was tampered with the exhaust. Well the previous owner told me it wasn't because her had a rear mount turbo on it.

Ok so cleaned carbs and got it almost back together and i decided to check out the air box since I cleaned everything in the carb and I discovered something. I can't believe I didn't see this before! I have a huge hole cut into the bottom of the air box . Stupid question but would this cause my problem that I'm having? Lol here are a couple pictures.

I doubt that would hurt your performance to the extent you described. I once had a torn carb slide valve bellow, and my sled ran like crap. What are your rpm's at WOT? You should be around 8500.

Sorry, I just read your post again and saw that. Yes, try the other carb rack and secondary clutch. Try the clutch first, since it is a quick swap. Then the carbs if no improvement. Where are you located?

With respect to all that have suggested to clean a pilot jet, to me it's easier just to buy new ones ($7 ea.?) and replace them. The damn hole in these jets is so small does one ever know that they are truly clean? Unless you have a drill or piece of wire that is the exact diameter of the pilot.

Without going down and looking I think that the size is the same as stock. If memory serves, there's a lip that goes all around the bottom of the opening....yours look like it has been cut off.

Yup it's been cut off. Found it out last night. Would that be causing my problems?

IMO.....no, not at all.
You said in an earlier post that you cleaned the carbs again. Did you check the float levels?
I'm not a clutch guy and I think you should work on one solution at a time.....is it possible your secondary is sprung (not sure what the right word or term is) too tight and when the motor is at 7000 RPM the motor doesn't have the grunt to open it up? Hard to think that these 4S motors don't have enough grunt at anything but if it was set to open up a turbo powered engine?
Another possibility is a low fuel pump output? Mike (Metallicat) - did you ever check your with the schlobometer gauge you bought?

Ok went for a test run now I can get it up to 8000 rpm with alot more throttle response but not perfect yet. All I did was cleaned carbs last night and tried my buddy's stock secondary. So I'm guessing the rest of this is probably the airbox. Well it's worth a try and seeing the plastic sliders in my buddy's secondary were really worn out lol

Why do you think the rest in in the airbox?

Because of the huge hole in the box. Jetting is all stock so it would run worst don't you think? I seen a post on here about the vector airbox mod and the guy said its a absolute no no and will cause a lot of power loss unless the guy is lying? He's a TY 4 stroke God on here so I'm guessing he knows what he's talking about. I took a snap of the page in the pic below . Let me know what you think. Link is here if you can't see the picture. http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/2005-vector-airbox-mod.36303/
