There’s quite a few new non current 2018 sidewinders rtx se around my area and I’m thinking of picking one up. I know the se doesn’t have the greatest shocks but that’s something that can be changed.
I’m strictly a trail rider here in Ontario and Quebec, I’ve never owned a sled longer than 129”, I have ridden 136-141” sleds but I like the nimble feel of a short track sled when I’m riding in the southern parts of the province (bush trails).
I seen posts that the Ltx feels more planted than the rtx and the rtx is more back end loose, what does that mean? When the trails are not rock hard will the rtx feel a bit loose on the rear.
kinda odd why they would stop making the rtx model.
Thanks for any input..

I love my 18 RTX LE 50th. I’m studded, and it’s not loose at all. I don’t want anything bigger imo. I had a 121 before that, and that was fine too. It’s a fad...that longer is better, bunch of BS IMO. They say how great 137 is and keep saying it over and over, and next thing you know, everybody wants a longer track. Nothing wrong with longer, but nothing wrong with 129 or 121 either. Get it, you’ll love it, you don’t be disappointed.
And, You can always change the shocks if you wanted to as well like you said.

I f'ing love my '17 R-TX SE, I used shocks stock last season put on 5500km at 290hp on the same trails you are on it sounds like. This season since I need a shock rebuild anyways I'm upgrading to dual rate springs and revakve where needed.

Like the people that posted ahead of me I love my 18 RTX! Mine is studded so it does not lose it’s bite. I put dual 6 inch woodys carbide on the inferior ski’s with adjustments to the track that puts more pressure on the ski’s. It handles well, but I might add it gives heavy steering. I have owned a lot of Yamaha’s in the past, but I think it is the best.

Get an RTX. I love mine. My dad has an LTX. His is a little more planted, but I think mine is more fun to ride. Way more transfer out of the 129 skid compared to the 137.
