We are trying to get my dads 03' RX-1 running right. It backfires and sputters when warmed up. I've pulled the carbs and cleaned the jets, I've by-passed the T.O.R.S. It won't backfire when you squeeze the throttle, but idles high. Now before summer storage seafoam was put in, but could it be as simple as dumping the old gas? Any help is appreciated

id try getting new gas in it if the jets are clean, plugs are good and air box is attached right and not blocked

Any exhaust leaks? The donuts are quick to cause problems and could lead to the symptoms you mention.

could be air box and or carbs not seated and clamped properly.

Also very likely to be plugged pilot jets (they are wicked small)

Also make sure to get some new fuel in it.

Idle is set mechanically via the screw in the middle of the carb rack and the TPS has nothing to do with it. If there was a problem with the TPS then you would have a blinking "check engine" light on the dash.

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue.. When you had the carbs apart did you visualize the pilot jets and make sure they were good and clean?????

we are having the same exact problem with MY dad's RX Warrior (05)

we pulled the plugs, put in dry gas with no luck. looks like we might have the carbs cleaned out too but from what it sounds this still doesnt fix the problem

did you figure anything out GIMME SNOW ?

inspect your choke "line" sounds like that when the choke's stuck. Engine runs ok when cold but bad when it get warmed up - to much fuel.
