I got a friend who just bought an 2005 RX-1 and it suddenly lost a lot of performance while he was driving. It almost sounds like the choke is on all the time, but that is checked. We also checked spark plugs and they are brown and nice.
When he hit the throttle it is like it's getting way too much fuel... Same on higher rpm, he said it is like it lost 40hp.. We also checked the Tors but it seems to be disconnected. Air filter is also checked.
Any ideas what to look for next?

I would take the carbs off and clean them well, check the jets to make sure they are the stock size or the correct size for your elevation, also I would check the fuel screw to make sure it is set correctly. Plus while they are out you might as well check the fuel bowl level too.
Ok! What about exhaust donuts on 4 cylinders, same as on the 3 cylinders? Can it affect this much?
Exhaust donuts would not affect the sled that bad plus it would cause some rough idling and backfiring when letting off the throttle.

Did you bother to check the DRIVELINE? I.e. BELT, track, etc.? Check jackshaft bearing behind the secondary clutch.When he hit the throttle it is like it's getting way too much fuel... Same on higher rpm, he said it is like it lost 40hp..
RECONNECT IT!!!! This is a CRITICAL SAFETY COMPONENT that prevents people from DYING if the rider falls or jumps off! It also protects you from DRIVER PANIC if the throttle locks up at WOT -- it'll shut the engine down to save people's lives.We also checked the Tors but it seems to be disconnected.
You sure? Sometimes power snow can plug up the bottom of the air filter and cause problems like this.Air filter is also checked.
Driveline, air intake, electrical wires in nose under beer can holder and around steering column.Any ideas what to look for next?
Do you know the history of the sled? Any weird looking modifications to it that suggest it might have at one time had a TURBO** installed?

Yes I'm sure about the air filter, we had it open! Dont know the sleds history, he just bought it. It did run fine for a couple of days but then this happened when he was riding. Driveline is ok. Will do a engine compression test.
The idle rpm is ok, it's when he hit the throttle from idle it stumbles like it's getting way to much fuel, same on higher rpm it does not sound ok, but he sparks plugs aren't wet or back

You had it open... did you have it OUT? The snow would accumulate on the BOTTOM where you can't see it without taking it OUT.

Check the wiring under the tool box at the very front where it can rub against the frame . You may have rubbed through and only acts up with vibration and shorts out.

Found 1 carb loose, but that did not solve the problem. Checked more on TORS and it is connected. How does it work? It seems a bit odd because when he tried to hold the throttle to check the switch, it still went to 10k rpm.
