The 136" will work better as it centres you more over the rear suspension plus the extra length will smooth out the top of the mogul rather than go up one side and down the other.

Exactly green, it bridges the moguls and doesn't drop into them (unless they're really huge :shock.

Hey V.
I LOVE the power of my RX-1  AS I've said before - nothing I have ever ridden or owned has ever pulled so strongly past 80 Mph. What a rocket! Very stable too . I'm still working out the ride though, but inspite of that I'm very thrilled to have one. I traded up from an '02 EDGE 700, not the least dissapointed. Never owned a 136/+ track sled, but I would've gotten a Warrior if Chippewa Motors had one. I've never ridden or owned an 03 so I can't tell you if you should buy a left over '03. Personally, the later the better as technology is always changing.
You may not be able to toss an RX-1 around in the corners like a F-7, ZR, REV, or Pro-x, but I think with the right add-ons you could get very close, as it's pretty good stock or at least better than I expected
When I see and hear 2-strokes I actually think they are the lowest form of snowmobile technology - maybe that's because they are  Nothing against anybody personally. The fit and finish and over-all quality of Yamaha's RX-1 when compared (if that's possible) really shines. I don't see myself owning another 2-stroke stinker again. So what if it's heavier  They're ALL heavy if you get them stuck
A few benefits:
No more VES oil at $35.00/gal
No more extra oil to carry
Gas and Go - Runs on 87 just fine
10 gal. 4-stroke = 12 gal. 2-stroke
No more eyes burning at road crossings
No more stinky clothes
No more drenched airboxes - No reeds
No pull rope to break
Awesome guage cluster
Awesome warmer controls
Dual exhaust out the back with a tone to die for
Reports of 10K+ miles and still going strong
Possible Valve adjustments at 25K
Aftermarket turbo available
So in answer to your question: YES :!: I would buy another RX-1 or Warrior if I had that option. Some of the features I used to convince my wife was the longevity and durability of a 4-stroke, and no more stinky exhaust fumes - looks like I won't be trading in anytime soon

rx-1 would u buy again
Do not buy the 03. Too many inprovements made in the next year. eg- front end links, sway bar, single rate springs. Rear suspension changes to improve transfer and ride. Clutching changes. Thumb and handwarmer changes. Track changes. If you can find one 03 with all the changes, I would consider it. As far as 04 Warrior goes I would think they would have the same learning curve on that model as the 03 shortie. The engine is positively awesome, but it stops there. I wish I had waited for the sled to be out for a few seasons before I bought. This sled is a cooold rider- don't know if it is windshield height or gaps between windshield and hood but it definitely is colder than my other sleds. This engine also uses a fair amount of oil when run hard for extended periods. Sounds like I hate the sled but I don't- just wished someone had told me about these shortcomings before I bought. In terms of weight, power and trail manners I think the 900 cat would be a good consideration. I know they have a good top end and a fierce mid range which sounds like where you will be. Rx1 has good mid and top also but giving up a couple hundered pounds I think would be measureable in terms of fatigue at the end of a long day. Can't comment on rev except friend of mine did not like the seating position and bent legs when he tried it. He ended up buying a Pol 600 Classic with the m-10 for low $7000. Also depends if you're a kid and like to jump moguls, ride ditches or like the ride comfort and extras like lec start and rev. I would not buy another sled without either. Hope I did not confuse you too much but ICan give you more details if you need them thru a pm. One main point I forgot - DO NOT BUY FROM A DEALER UNLESS HE HAS A GOOD REP- NO MATTER WHAT BRAND. Some of us have found out the hard way what a real #*$&@-ache it can be if your dealer is looking to find a way to back out of warrantee work- such as add-ons etc.

I would buy another warrior in a heart beat. All my Yamaha friends say the same thing. The RX1 and Viper riders just love my warrior. They say it is the first sled they have ridden that rivals the M10.

Would I buy again? Why? This thing will still be ripping up and down the mountains long after 2 strokes have been placed in the Smithsonian
I am actually starting to get annoyed when I get around a 2 stroke. Too loud and smelly for me any more. I like to park on the other side of the parking lot now with the cross country skiers, even they love this thing 8)

If you bought the RX1 for the right reasons than it is a great sled and nothing can compete with it. IMHO too many people are concentrating on making it a Firecat/ZR900 killer and that dilutes the true overall value of this sled. Enjoy it for what it is and be confident that nobody else makes anything close. I have a 02 ZR and a 03F5SnoPro for when I want to try and relive my youth.
As for not buying an 03 B.S., if it is a money thing you can save a few grand, put a grand into updates and be within 98% of a 04 as far as ride and handling.

The RX-1's are a great piece of machinery, I agree with the previous posts and I'll give you the only negative that I can think of on this sled.
It does have a front end wieght problem that is noticeable on small trails or in the turns on the big trails, I've owned an SRX an SX and also presently have 2 vipers. All of these sleds will out perform my RX-1 in the before mentioned trails or turns, but with that said, if you can live with that you will not be dissapointed for this sled truly is a technological achievement !! THAT'S MY STORY AND I'M STICKIN TO IT !! 8)

Believe me it isn't much heavier in the front than triples were and if you play with the front it will come to you.

Thanks again for all the responses. Yeah, the speed is nice, but it is nothing I want to get carried away with since I'm 18. It would be fun to beat up on my buddies 800HO a few times though  The power sounds great though, quite a bit more than my ZL600. I have never had ES/Reverse, but I am sure they are nice on the colder mornings/moving around the house. We'll see what the dealer has to say.
Thanks again, time to keep reading old posts

That sound was all it took. After hearing the 03 RX-1 start-up at a show last year I knew I had to have one. Very happy with the sled and am looking forward to picking-up a BLACK Warrior in a couple of years .

VELO, I bought the 03 shorty, LOVE it!! I have done the updates just because everyone is praising them. I thought it was great just the way it came from the factory! If you can find a great deal on a 03 I'd buy in a second! I also came off a Zl Cat, no comparision, You will love the RX-1 Honk
