saddle bags or storage bags...

looking to buy,and not sure or wich one is best...
any responses would be great,just wondering how they mount and how they hold up.

In deep snow riding or side hilling, how much do the saddle bags get in the way of your foot? I have been holding off because I havent had a chance to see them on a sled. (I ride with all Doo guys)

I have the fuel caddy ones on a xtx from normal trail riding the ice build up is horrible. Also I have had two of the bags that go over the brackets/gas cans replaced. the first one a ice ball developed on the pull string for the zipper and took out the zipper. The second one so much ice built up on the bottom it tore the bag as I kicked the ice off.

I prefer the skinz bag and the yamaha "premium trunk bag"

I think getting the bags that are up higher really helps. The water coming off the exhaust melts down right on to the saddle bags forming a unpleasant icy mess.

I have the combination sport saddle bags on my XTX, I originally bought them just for longer trips or over-nighters but they are great and do no tget in the way so I leave them on all the time. They are great, I have alot of things that hopefully I'll never need to use. I pack an axe, tow strap, jumper cables, small first aid kit, shovel, tool pouch, extra oil, gasline anti-freeze, trail marker ribbon, small folding saw...

It is great having the extra fuel I thought I would be using them all the time but guess what only once and that was when I forgot to fill them lol.

radianguy is right on the money I'm 6'4'' and the trunk bag doesn't bother me one bit its a ride up near the tank or stand sled.

That is the exact same bag I have on my xtx and love it, it holds alot of stuff and isnt too overbearing either. Once strapped up it does not budge an inch all day in the rough stuff.

I had the same problems. One of mine is totally jacked up, presumably from the ice build up. The seams ripped. Also, the tank within the bag shrunk up really bad and was very sloppy in the holder. If you are anywhere near an agressive rider, these are not the bags for you.

Has anyone tried the tank bags. Do they get in the way while sitting forward for corners...

The tank bag doesn't get in the way IMO.

I have both the saddle and tank bag and have not had any problems after 2,000 + somewhat aggressive miles.

I also have one of the tank bags. Last week was the first time I used it and it felt good and never really noticed it there. I did have to throw on my gauntlets when my left hand warmer fried, and I did hit the bag a few times with that, but it wasn't any big deal. I rode 1,000 miles with the tank bag and it worked good.

Be careful making sharp right turns with the tank bag. Twice I had it hit the throttle while making slow turns and scared the crap out of me when the sled took off. Luckily no immovable objects were in my way

I put the skinz bag on the back of mine but I think my mind is made up to go with the 10 gallon tank. It will not be in the way. I have seen the threads on this but what is the long term report from this? fuel caddies sound like ice bags???
