so I was out riding with some buddies yesterday and came across an open river, friend #1 with a 600 rev crossed it, friend#2 with a 550 rev crossed it, then I tried and got about halfway across :o| :o| :o| the water was about 2 feet deep. just above the bottom of the air box. I killed the sled before it sucked any water in and it didnt look like there was any water in the oil. it will prime and turn over but no start, im going to pull the plugs today and see if theres any water in there. Any suggestions or help on this? do you think the electronics are fried? any help would be great.

i would change the fluids to be safe for sure. set one of those turbo heaters pointed at your sled to dry everything up.
when you pull the plugs, crank it over with them out to blow anything out.
just make sure the electrical doesn't get corrosion later on.

best of luck.

I feel for you... On Christmas day I broke through the river, but luckily there was another thicker layer of ice below the water about 18". A 60 foot walk to shore and 2 trips back into the river I had my Phazer back...It sat in the water for 2hrs.

I went to a heated underground parking lot to let it thaw out. once back home I checked the air box and oil for water and made sure the relays were dry by the battery... turned the key and "music"
*** A must check ( I almost didnt) The chain case will take on water, Mine was full about 2 cups.... after I drained and flushed it several times to remove all the milky oil and all is good now...

sorry for being long winded, but check everything and good luck...

ok thanks, well i pulled the plugs yesterday and there was water in the cylinders :o| so i spun the cluch and got it out then put some oil in. I put the tank back on and started turning it over.......my starter started to get really slow, so i boosted it with a full car battery and still VERY slow, so my starters fried.....great :o| :o| Im going to start the tear down tonight :o| #$%&*

in the water is ok...once its out..you need to work fast...

I sank my MTX last year. When i stopped on a rotten patch of ice, the back end fell and i canned it but was too slow to get on top of the water. All you could see was the front bumper and skis. Got in to the shop the next day and tore it apart. THere wasn't any water in the oil, but the chaincase was plumb full of ice and also the gasket around the fuel pump wasn't sealed proberly from the factory so the gas tank was full of ice too. I pulled the plugs and turned it over until it quit blowing water out of the plug holes. It took about 15 minutes of turning it over, but don't let the starter get hot, turn it for 10 or 15 seconds then let it cool down. Once it quit blowing water, i put it back together and put new fluids in it and it started right up. It blew steam out the exhaust for the first half hour or so, but I've put about a thousand miles on it since then and it has run with no problems. I only had 46 miles on it when I sunk it.
