The phazer has the longer jackshaft, if someone wanted to upgrade to the better secondary, a used one from 1995-96 Vmax 5-600 should fit.Do any of the late model Phazers have the YVX secondary clutch? I thought I read they were updated at some point but I cant remember

I bought an 07 new. There were many updates, but nothing serious, and nothing that would let u down on the trail. Both my kids have been on Proaction Phazer 500s the last few seasons. I'm thinking of getting 4 stroke Phazers for them this year. Any major changes over the years that would warrant avoiding prior years?
A few I can remember-
1) lower center shock pivot mount was problematic and updates to a different style.
2) upper guide wheels had holes and would flat spot. Later versions were solid.
3) ice build up on tunnel and there were 2 updates for that if I remember correctly
4) little brackets inside airbox with rivets could come loose with the potential to get sucked into engine. I forget what their fix was for that.
5) The oil hole on the gearbox on some models doesn't line up properly with the chaincase oil hole which will eventually leak. The fix is to buy a new grommet, loosen the bolts, line up the hole and re-tighten bolts.
Probably and 09 or up wouldn't have most of these little issues.
Hope this helps, cheers

Picked up the 07 I found, 1500 miles. Basically like brand new. The owner had people asking if updates had been done so he brought it to the dealer, had vin run, and did all outstanding updates. No reverse, I had just figured they all had reverse at that point in the game. Guess not. I'll get some pics in the am when it's light out.
