After converations with a few different 09 SE riders I recently added Fox float X shocks from the 09 SE RTX to my 08 RTX. After roughly 600 miles here's what I notice with the Float X shocks vs. the 08 Floats... I run higher psi in the new shocks (85 in the X's vs. 60 in the 08's) and the new shocks still feel softer and more compliant. The new X's are better in the stutters. Less inside ski lift. Sled tracks better and holds its line in corners better. Jump landings and planting the front end after wheelie's is less twitchy. The Float X's are better everywhere than the 08 Floats. Incredible shocks IMO.

Good to hear. I should have mine in the next week or so.

Just don't ride colder than 15 below!! They tend to lose their charge.

Superman - glad to hear you got a set - I thought you might appreciate them. The stock calibration on the Float X shocks definitely gives the ride quality that the RTX models deserve. My first recommendation to anyone with an 08 Nytro RTX is to get those front Floats either revalved or to add the additional canisters, or upgrade to the Float X shocks as the stock valving calibration on the 08 RTX Floats was so stiff that it magnifies the handling complaints that resulted in the geometry changes to the 09 front end. When hitting small trail bumps the 08 shocks hardly move and the bump is sent through the handlebars or the ski pitches sideways over the bump leading to the twitchy feeling alot of 08 owners dread. Get a better calibrated shock on that 08 front end and it definitely helps the smileage factor.

You've got me thinking Kevin! If I find a home for the coilovers, I'll be having you ship me that set I saw at the store today....

... want to make em' rock even more? Add the newer DSC valves, high and low speed on the compression. The valve stacks and other little internal features in the Float X shocks really set them apart.

Would the Hygear Air control system do the same thing?
I really like mine, night and day from the factory floats. I've been running mine at 75psi low side and 150psi high side and they do everything better. Only one issue with them- for some reason my left shock likes to slowly leak the low pressure side air...
I would like to compare them to a set of Float 2's.

I know your pic title says yours are Float Evol X's, just wanted to double check as the topic is about the Float X shocks that come standard on the SE ? Also noticed that you installed the shock guards. They look like they'll work even better than on the standard Float application being yours are mounted from the top of the shock, should eliminate snow build-up between the shock and the guard. Nice shocks !

Sorry about that, I have not looked closely at the std SE shocks, just assumed they were the same as the Float X Evols. I have the actual Float X Evols, did not purchase them thru Yamaha. Do the SE shocks have the adjustable Evol chamber?
I just installed the same guards as I had on my factory Floats, they work great. Too expensive of a shock to risk damaging the shaft.

You got the higher end shocks for sure ! The Float X's are supposed to be excellent as well, they have the top resevoir, but not the bottom one like yours. I'm sure both the X and Evol X shocks are a HUGE step ahead of the standard Floats. So where'd ya get those Evol X's anyway ?
