I have an tear issue on a seat seam the is about 8 inches long. I want to remove seat and have someone redo. Any advice? type of product/ how to remove seat/ who should I have do the work (or me?). as always with TY, thanks in advance.

purchas a skinz cover, awsome grip on the seat and likely cheaper than having it re-upholstered... just goes on over your original cover...

I bought a new seat cover for my RX-1 from yamaha and it was outrageous.. I think I paid around $180 for it. I talked to a local shop and they said they could have made me a cover with better material for about 1/2 of that. Id look around for a local shop that can do the work for less

Make sure your reupholster is good. Go to his shop and see some work or see his work from a friend.
I know as I'm an upholster.
Seat is easy to remove. Lot's of posts here on it. The cover is stapled on. The back storage flap is the tricky part.

Switch to "Light" beer, or the repairs will be futile.

Dosn't work.. I was a life time labatts blue drinker. Switched to blue light about 3 years ago and my seat still ripped.... I think maybe its just the good life in general that makes me a little fluffier than most.... LOL....

I hear ya. I've tried switching to light beer but I always end up drinking more of them, so it's kind of a wash I guess. Oh well, guess I'll have to ride harder to burn a few more calories.
