I've got a new to me 2017 Sidewinder XTX. Noticed today one of the secondary rollers is split. Seems to still be working fine but I have some hi torque ones on order to replace. It looks fairly easy to change them without removing the secondary. I understand setting the parking brake and rotating the helix to get it off the rollers. My questions are:

1) I am assuming the set screws have loctite on them but maybe I'm wrong. Should I be heating with a torch before removing?

2) Once set screw is out, how do you remove the roller pin?

Thanks guys.

Take the clutch off the machine and put it on a bench.
The screws come out without heat. Use a good 4mm or 5/32.
sometimes the pins are a little tricky to get out, but I find compressed air or a piece of mechanics wire work. Some penetrating oil or brake clean and work them back and forth if they are stubborn.
Take a good look at the helix, often I find they are garbage after running on the stock rollers for any more than a few thousand kms.
Hi-torque, or the stock Cat rollers should be installed from new imo.

Ok cool thank you. So easiest to remove helix completely if secondary is on the bench eh?

There is definitely wear marks on the helix I noticed. Doesn't look terrible though but should it be changed regardless?

I find there are clearance issues with the high torque rollers so you may need to do some grinding to get them to clear. You will see what I mean when you install them. I mini die cast grinder with a burr bit works good.

If you can feel grooves with your finger tips the helix should most likely be changed out. What's the miles on it?

21,000 km

I used a small Allen wrench to push the pins out of the rollers. Works great.

At 21,000 km I would think it is definately a consideration to replace the helix, pins , and rollers.
On the secondary clutch I have had good luck with the OEM rollers.

Thanks I did order the hitorque ones but they won't be in till next week. Dealer has OEM ones in stock I'm going to go get today. I noticed the other 2 on my sled have flat spots and the secondary doesn't always seem to open fully especially in deep powder the belt squeals and I have no power.

Shouldn't the OP use Arctic cat rollers, or did something change?

Just finished putting the new rollers in. Job was a piece of cake compared to skidoo secondary rollers.

As the secondary sits now two rollers are pressed against the helix and won't spin freely, but one does. I'm assuming that means the helix is worn. I am just trying to get it good enough for a ride this weekend but will change helix eventually

I noticed my Dalton is the same. Two touching, one rolling. I'll double check.

Maybe just the way the spring is pressing it at rest
