I've read many postings refering to the movement of the secondary side jackshaft bearing on "03" RX-1's. I've had my dealer look at mine and he say's it's OK. I've been lubing it regularly. I went ahead and ordered the locking collar and nut but the collar will not go on far enough to allow the secondary to line up properly. Do you guy's think that the tapered collar on the bearing may be working it's way out? As I said my dealer said it "looks" OK but I'm getting an uneasy feeling about it after what I've just mentioned. Is there a parts breakdown around on this site that might show the proper installation of the locking collar and nut?

Not sure what update your refering to with locking collar but the factory used an economy type extended innner ring bearing. The eccentric locking collar your speaking about may not fit which is Fafnir part number RAE25RR. All you need is a Fafnir bearing part number YAE25RR which is a 25mm bore with extended inner ring 2 set screws. When installing bearing remove set screws and spray with loctite primer and then apply 242 thread locker in set screw. Had no problems since replaced. After you put flange plate back on smear some grease over the outside of the bearing to keep water and dirt out.

jackshaft bearing
The locknut has to be on the inside of the side plate that hold s the bearing with the tapered collar facing in. This way when you tighten the locknut it pulls the bearing in to snug it up. Ken.

When I took my 03 sled in for its 500 mile service the dealer shimed all the free play out of of the secondary. He claimed that this would prevent any future problems with the retainer and bearing. Now 6000 miles later she's still tight
