Folks,
Quick question :?
I am trying to figure out what the Apex Er is set up for out of the factory/dealer. I cannot find the information in the owners manual
(not real impressed with that, my first Yami but I have to say, Polaris did
a much better job with the manuals) and have heard this site mention 200 lbs and 185 lbs of rider weight. Does anyone know what "4" relates to from a weight perspective (rear spring) and I would assume the front end is set up to match this.
Thanks
dave

Hmm, well I weigh 170 (without gear etc) and that would be great if true but I keep hearing 185 or 200 so it would be great to get a confirmation or, maybe the dealers all go differently?

flmcut1, What did your dealer do to get you set-up for 240?
Shorty or 136?
I had my 05 shorty on 6 last year & just bottomed on major holes!
I'm 270ish so, I'm starting on my Attak at 6 too!
Leaving the front alone!

Hi Guys,
Proper way to set all Yamaha single shock rear suspensions per rider weight.
1. Lift rear of sled off of the ground and measure length of spring on the shock.
2. Let the sled down, sit on the sled ( in the position you would normally ride. Also if you ride with alot of gear or saddlebags make sure they are with you in the correct position.)
3. Have someone stand on the rear bumper while you are on the sled to simulate a bump to fully compress rear suspension, and let suspension come back up by itself. Just like you would be going over a bump.
4. While still sitting on sled measure the spring again. Spec is 40-45 mm shorter than first measurement. Any less is too stiff, any more is too soft.
5. This should be done by your dealer when you pick up the sled.

Thanks folks.
Andy,
My dealer did not ask my weight (although they may have guessed that I was in the default range if it is indeed 170 or 180). So we should just check it out ourself anyway. Does Yami send these to the dealer set up at a certain rider weight range and then you change it according to your customer's weight?
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,
Yes they are set up for a certain weight 160-180 lbs. depending where you sit on the sled and the aggressiveness of the rider. Every sled should be set per rider. This is very important to set up every sled per rider. Thanks, Andy

I am new to the ra skid, but on my 03 proaction skid when you adjusted the transfer rods to less transfer it stiffened up the overall ride alittle but made it handle awsome, now the ra has just one rod ( which i like better) so the adjustment should be even easier, but back to sag or set in,i would think my attak will be set up a little differently than the shorty, but same princaple applies here, the shock w/spring has two adjustments one is the cam on the end of the spring which is easy to adjust in your house/garage with the little spanner wrench that does not fit into the tool case, and than the c clips that overide this cam adjustment, from what i understand this c clip is the next step in ride sag once the spring has been used up?? But the compression/rebound adjustment has something to do with how it will bottom out in the bumps, just adjust it all the way to firm and jump on the sled, now all the way soft wow what a diff. the adjustabality is awsome maybe this will be all that is needed to set it up to my liking.
