I bought an 07 GT in December and the thing was very darty and hard to turn. I shimmed the skiis as per Bergstrom's instructions and also replaced the worn carbides with 5" 90 degree carbides.

The difference is night and day. Not only does the sled turn where I point it but when I let off on the throttle, it tracks straight instead of the #*$&@ weaving all over the place. Amazing difference.

i dont care what they say about dooley carbides. ive used woodys dooleys and studboy deucebars and theyre great i like the deuce bar better than the dooley it just seems to work better ive had them ever sence they came out 2 or 3 years ago. ever sence ive used dual runner carbides ive never had any darting i did shim the skis on my phazer like they say but i never even used the stock carbides took em off and threw em away before i got the sled home if your running stock skis your crazy not to use dual runner carbides

Cubby, did you adjust the limit strap, and move your spacers to the outside? And did you do these mods in steps, or all at once, and finally did you spin your rubber stops, then shim, or shim them as they were.

I did not move the spacers to the outside - it was my next step if the handling did not improve. I did shorten the limiter strap but put it back to the original place. I did also adjust the rear shock to the #4 position.

Thats the best way to go, one change at a time, so you can tell exactly what each one is doing for you. What did you do with the rubber stoppers?

I left the rubber stoppers the way they were.

This site has been great in helping me with the handling and with mods in general. This summer I plan on installing an Ulmer clutch kit, replace the bogeys with Slydogs, and maybe upgrade the rear shock.

What did you use for the actual shim?

I used a piece of UHMW plastic that was used on the runners of a dog sled.

I want more info about soinning the rubbers around. I get the idea but whats the treid n true on this?

Tried and true is that it works. Same on the Nytro.
Take the rubber out and hold it up to the spindle. It even fits the spindle better when turned around. And it tips the nose of the ski up, which is the main objective.
