And now with 700 or so miles on our 07 RTX (with proactive rear skid) it is wearing on the top of the shock and can see a line around the track as well.
To me this is one of those issues best to ignore. I'd call it more of an annoyance (because your mint sled is no longer mint) than a real problem.
Even over high miles (over 40,000 km combined on the monoshock) we've never seen any detriment to track performance (even with a few cuts in the track) and the wear rate to the shock itself is slow enough that I can't see it ever wearing through.
Some of us (myself included) even studded our tracks right down the middle and it didn't cause any increase in wear or additional problems. Just make sure the studs are tighted up to spec and the head of the stud has sunk well into the track.
The Ulmer kit is probably a good idea if you want to eliminate the wear. I look at it as another pair of bearings to maintain so an increase in overall maintenance.
