shocks or m-10

"Is it me or did people forget this isn't a "ditch banger"?"

You better tell Yamaha this as this suspension is in the Nytro and 07 RTX both the ditchbangers. Time for Yamaha to 3rd party out rear suspension developement.

It's hard to believe this is a rising rate, with no accellerator rods "working" on the rear shock. ?
Yup it's true......this is just another in the long line of harsh Yamaha skids.

The Expert I installed in my big Polaris made it fun to ride, but to go to that extreme with this machine I really have to decide if this is something I want to keep. Because, once you start making all those holes in the tunnel, it'll be hard to go back to stock and find a buyer at resale time. And who wants to buy a modified sled?

You'd have several people lining up to buy it, including me if I needed to. THose in the know know that the stock skid on this sled is only for a very select few, and if they saw one with an M-10 or Expert, they'd buy it b4 a stocker Verctor.

I was really taken aback when the Nytro debuted with the Vector skid (and a new name). And now, the top of the line RTX also sports this design! I don't get it! I really looked these things over with a measuring tape just to see if they snuck in some design change. And no they didn't. Just an adjustable shock (not even an OHLINS), which I was told by someone who knows, not to purchase. I did replace all my springs with Nytro spec pieces thinking that was where the magic lies - oh was I mistaken. I think it's that great big seat that comes stock on the Nytro!!! When I went to the snocross race last march in Lake Geneva, I saw the factory Nytro racer there. Two of them to be exact! One was sporting that special single-shock skid we're all familiar with. The other had an SC-4 in it! What does that indicate? Then I went to the Yamaha tent where the new Phazer was on display. They had Corey Davidson's cross country sled on display, and you know what he had up under his tunnel? A polaris skid frame! Didn't anyone else notice this?

polaris skid! i guess yamaha will offer this next year if its on corey's sled!ha!

still an improvement

Let me say this... My last sled was an '02 Viper. great on the groomed stuff and around corners, but I feel the Vector is much smoother. In my mind the vector is an improvment, but as we all know Yamaha has never been known for their suspensions. No matter what they claim other mfg's are always better. I wouldn't trade my Yammi engine for anything in the world though!

Anything is an improvement over an 02 Viper isn't it? WOW! that was a lumberwagon....kinda like my Poo 98 XCR 600.

I fully agree on the engine thing...if they only built their skids as good as the motors. ;)!

Just got the new SNOW GOER issue. Boy, were they kind to the Nytro, in regards to the rear skid performance. If you focus on the words they chose and they way they used them, it reveals how incompetent the design really is!

I'm kinda comming in as the tail wagging the dog, but I am Curious as to why nobody ever mentions the M-12 ? Its either the M-10 or Air-Wave that gets talked about.

I also would like to hear about the M-12. The increased ride height worries me, though. In regards to the IQ skid, not having a tipped-up tunnel means you'd have to probably mount the skid very low in the tunnel, maybe even fabricate custom brackets. Once again, increased ride height (which used to be a major concern to magazine experts in the mid 90's when Polaris came out with the Xtra 12 skid).
