What year did the primary clutches go from short cover to long cover primary? Also can long cover springs be used in short cover clutches?? Thanks!

Not sure in the exact year of the change over. I’ve heard of guys using short cover springs on long cover clutches, but never the other way around. If you try it make sure the spring will not cool bind at full shift. The clutches are basically identical, other than the cover. The newer four stroke clutches also have slots in the spider for the big flat cam arms to swing.

2009 Phazer MTX
4 stroke Phazer was the last short cover clutch, I don't think I'd try a long spring in the short cover and with that said I had no trouble getting a few different new springs to try on my Phazer
