Thinking about trading the 05 Rage and some cash for an 09 XTX. Now that people have had a few years on these sleds I am just looking for the cliffs notes. We mostly ride in da UP and in Ontario. Is this a nice sled and are there any major flaws that I need to know about? I know there is a lot of content on here so if this thread already exists then if you can just point me the way I really appreciate the help.

I bought an xtx and kept my 06 rage. The Nytro is just as reliable and outperforms the rage in every aspect except one...better buy some warm clothes!

I was you just last year. Sold my 05 Rage, and move up to an 09 XTX.
I initially wanted something that could ride standing up easier, and the fuel injection was a nice upgrade. However, first time I squeeze the fun flipper I immediately noticed a major acceleration difference. Suspension can take much more of beating, throttle is lighter being fuel injected so I didn't have that throttle fatigue at the end of the day. I also felt much better overall at the end of the day or the next day after riding. Even the wife noticed the difference.
Honestly, looking back the Rage was like a big trail cruiser IMHO. Despite how I tried to ride it, at the end of the day is didn't match my riding style. Sure XTX can cruise the trail, but also likes to be ridden hard, and beaten like a rented mule!!! There is a big time fun factor with the Nytro that I like much better.
Get the XTX....you won't be disappointed.

I went from a 07 F8 LXR to a 09 xtx this year and have been able to put some decent miles on already and I am very happy with the XTX. If you do buy one, make sure to follow sj's suspension setup, this sled corners just as flat as my AC did... The handwarmers need some major improvement though.

On my third season on my 2009 XTX. Still love it. Way different machine than the Rage. Pulls much harder, plus the riding position makes it far more fun to ride. Not the best 300+ mile-a-day trail sled, but a ton of fun nonetheless. Probably gonna get an 800 ETEC next year, but I will definitely be keeping my XTX (gotta have a reliable sled in the stable if your gonna ride Doo).
