My 14 XTX now has 9000 miles on it. If I clog the exhaust with rags it will still stall it. Do I change the exhaust doughnuts anyway even though I have no signs of leaking? Incidentally, I can't say enough great things about the Star Suspension kit! What an improvement!

Just did mine. They had 17000kms on them and were in perfect shape all clamps were still tight. They definitely improved these. I changed them at 8k and they were perfect but I wasn’t sure so this time l let them go until 17k. My 08 was only good for 5k and they would be starting to go.

if your season milage is over 2000 a year, you should replace them. on my 2011 apex xtx i did mine at 12000 miles and they would leak cold but not hot. they where just starting to fall apart.

Hey guys, we have a permanent fix for the donut problem. This is a woven flex-pipe kit that replaces the old gaskets that require donuts. No more donuts = no more downtime fixing them

Did mine at 7000 miles and the old ones looked like the new ones. Checked them this year at 17000 miles and they are still good. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It’s not a lot of work to just check the clamps are still tight and at the same time inspect your exup and lube the cables with copper anti seize. I do it every oil change.

Yes you have to take off the seat, gas tank cover and gas tank but it’s quite easy and there are step by step procedures in the FAQ section of Apex General Talk.

mine started to go at this mileage if they go they will start to take out the header and that is big bucks. I would replace them they are way easier on the newer ones then they were on the pre 2011 sleds. I would just do it and then you have no worries for the next 9000 miles. My 14 XTX now has 9000 miles on it. If I clog the exhaust with rags it will still stall it. Do I change the exhaust doughnuts anyway even though I have no signs of leaking? Incidentally, I can't say enough great things about the Star Suspension kit! What an improvement!

If you stay up on the donuts it’s a cheap repair. But when the factory manifolds and flange start breaking on the EXUp exhaust system it gets really expensive to repair or replace. That why I came up with the F/X Garage Works repair kit. The Braided Flex Pipes eliminate the donuts and flanges out of the system for a much cheaper/long lasting permanent fix.

The key to preserving the expensive EXUP header is replacing donuts before they are MIA. Once a donut disintegrates the titanium flanges on header are prone to damage.
