O.K. guys..I have a new (left over 07) Phazer that I bought back in June. I have never started it , but I thinking I should fire it up soon to make sure everything is working properly, so if there is a problem I can have it fixed before the season kicks in. My question is, should I bring the sled up too operating temperature on initial start up..or should i just start it and kill it. Seeing how i still won't be riding it for awhile I want to do what is best for the proper seating of the piston rings.

Well, I don't know if this is recommended, but I do it...when I got my first RX-1 in August of 2002, it was a 90 deg day and my dealer, who is a racer, wanted me to let him know how she went...so I warmed it up on the stand, checked track tension, let er cool down, and did this a few more times, varying the rpm a little. Then down to our drag strip it went...tremendous resistance on dry grass, but she'd go pretty good..found out about the ill handling right off the bat.
In any case, I sold it last winter to a friend, and it never burned any oil, ran very very strong stock, and basically is/was 100% bulletproof...had about 5,000 miles on.
Oh, changed the oil at 500 miles, and ran Mobil 1 5-30 ever since.

I am not an expert on engines by any means. But I would go ahead and start it. Just make sure that you warm the engine up completely and than let it cool down completely so that it goes through a complete hot and cold cycle. This is will help cause the engine parts get to know each other and start to form to there proper shape and such. As far as breaking it in hard or breaking it in according to the manual, many people have done it either way and the sleds always turn out to run good either way so personally I don't think it really matters. All I know is that on the first ride a lot of throttle variation, from full throttle to no throttle to half throttle, is a good thing. Also I believe when most dealers put the sleds together they will start them up to make sure they run, and they will let them idle for 5-10 minutes.
I think if you want to start it, you should run it on the grass to.

Good article. I visited the Doo factory in Valcourt in 1993, and every sled coming down the line went into a cell, where fuel lines were hooked up, the engine started, and whacked full tilt while lights and other things were checked...screamin brand new sleds. Any errors found got a red dot on the hood and was brought offline for a fix..so back in the old days if you saw red dots covered by green dots, your Doo had an issue on the production line..lol.
