Stock 8JP vs Gates carbon vs Ultramax 825
What is everyone running on the 270-290 hp sidewinders for belts and what kind of results do you see over stock.
I have been running Gates carbon (1100 mi) with stock secondary and dalton weights and it seems to work good and grip the clutch better, it did however rob about 400 rpms so I had to adjust weights but way less belt dust than 8JP.
I talked to TD today and they said try the 825, just looking for the good and bad not a belt war lol.

Tylenol, Alleve, Motrin.
I've tried them all and my head still hurts!
Until somebody says i got XXXX miles on one belt then puts on another belt & compensates for peak rpm's then says i have XXXX more miles on this other belt and does it 3 times, there is no answer for this. Also each brand belt may need different spring settings to grip correctly.
And because everybody seems to be having different results good & bad, this subject gets even WORSE!
According to some they get a Gajillion miles on the 8JP if:
1. you clean the belt
2. never use reverse
3. warm it up for 20 miles
4. stay OFF the throttle
5. never take the lords' name in vain
6. basically make love not war especially to your belt
If you follow these simple instructions you will get optimum belt life & performance
Where is my Aspirin?

Consider the 8DN also. It is what I ran last year after I blew the 8JP with not many miles on it. I'm not going to argue that it is best, as I haven't tried them all, but the 8DN has had a fairly solid track record and has been around for 20 years. Gotta like the price too.Stock 8JP vs Gates carbon vs Ultramax 825

Sorry for the rant Mr. C
I just don't think there is an actual answer to this.
For longevity it seems the 8DN is best at a cost of 3 or 4 mph on top.
My carbon Gates gripped better, but lasted 400 miles less then my 8JP's. Then again i wasn't dialed in for that belt either.
This will be THE year where some results will be in on these belts.
And hopefully answers to your questions & the previous 1,000,000,001.01 belt posts.
P.S: First guy to chime in what show Mr. C was on gets extra bonus points.

Also...most weren't aligned correctly last year and the year before, per Hurricanes clutch alignment tool. If aligned correctly...any one of those belts should last...regardless of what you prefer.
Sure one may make a lil more dust, or grip better/worse, or shave 4-5 mph off top end etc etc...but they all should last decently if the clutches are in line like they should be.

Ironically, @ClutchMaster was trying to help early this year explaining/arguing that with the average SideWinder's center-to-center we should be 57mm-58mm offset. Now it seems that's where most everyone is landing. Maybe a good lesson for us all - civility and an openness to other's with a lot of experience is what makes TY such a great resource.Also...most weren't aligned correctly last year and the year before, per Hurricanes clutch alignment tool. agree....takes a village to raise a child....or in this case solve a belt problem...stands to reason if your ctc varies...then your offset would to

Xs-825 is the best one !
ALWAYS stable on rpm even after a full day of beating. Its not the case for the gates, at least for the 2 i have try.... they delaminates after a hard beating and the belt is really weak, like a rubber band when hot..
Maybe its a good belt for drag racing, but for a 300miles riding day..... i prefer xs825
Gates is still a better belt than any Yamaha belt

Agreed.
I think that ClutchMaster should be brought back to TY if he'd even come back. It's a dang shame that he ended up suspended. IMO the idiots drove him down a bad path and in turn some things got said that hurt some feelings. Same idiots that keep Allen Ulmer away and even myself and many others from posting up dang good information.
ClutchMaster should be brought back as he's forgot more than some of the others will ever know. I know how he felt though dealing with the dopes and know-it all wannabes. Its easy to lose ones cool when dealing with some fools. I've learned to let some stuff go and not even post information to argue with the idiots anymore. Sometimes its had to stay quiet though.
I say bring back ClutchMaster! He wasn't afraid to bring the GOOD INFORMATION to the table and explain it. Everyone deserves a second chance!
