Hey Fellas
i am in the process of fabricating a manual reverse lever for my sidewinder and wanted to get thoughts and opinions on this
I am planning to do away with the electric servo motor and replacing it with a fwd reverse lever similar to what a real yamaha used.
This system will not adress the poor arctic cat chaincase design but simply get rid of the servi motor.
My feeling is a manual lever will give me a positive feel when selecting fwd or rev
pray for snow but while we have none i will begin my design

Arnies cat house already had manual reverse made a few years ago. There wasnt much too it, and it didnt look super pretty. That being said, I don't see what benefit this would have. The servo motors aren't the problem with these chaincases.

I have 3 sidewinders 2 2017s and a 2018 all have had enough issues with all the servo motors that make me want to embark on this adventure. What i would really prefer to do is build a whole new chaincase but that is beyond my scope at the moment.

Nothing wrong with servo or gear case, drop in a better bushing in the top gear , loc tite the roller screws, fill to top of sight glass with oil and drive on.

I'm trying to invent an electric push-button reverse for my atv's similar to my Winder because it is so incredibly easy and convenient. Don't like gearshifts, takes too long...
However, mine is a 19 with the easier button on the left side. Never did like the button on the 17 and 18's.

As little as I use reverse a manual lever seems to me to be a better option than the junk servo motor. Build it and many will buy it. Don’t be discouraged by naysayers.

Last time I changed my chaincase oil I thought that same thing. Someone could just make like a door knob type thing or lever to replace the servo motor fairly easily. Sometimes the simple solutions are much more reliable.
