Sidewinder mpg?

I only checked it once while in the UP last trip. Was around 14.5 of running hard on the trails. You guys can burp the tank the same way the doo guys and get .5 gallon or more in it.

The back of my right side white curve ski gets blackened a little bit every ride, and some on the white lower belly pan stickers....
but there is soot in the apex exhaust and vectors too. The white cones on a friend's vector has some soot on it.

Burping the tank is a little annoying but less annoying than running out of fuel.

I checked my elbow tonight and it has the black updated version on it from the factory....still only got 10mpg but like I said I'm using the throttle all the time.

Curious on your build date....Mine is JULY 17,(18MY) and mine came with a red elbow...

I just drilled mine out, easy peasy.

These seem to be pretty darn accurate.

Note: avg speed between the two areas could be a difference of 15-20mph. If that makes any sense.

Trail riding even at fast speeds can result in some pretty good numbers. I know last year on a back pack trip in the Gaspe we would ride 110 miles before fueling and I always had at least 3 plus gallons left in my tank. Riding steady speeds between 55-80 mph would get me 16 plus mpg. I think the way to get good fuel mileage is a steady throttle and steady speeds. When the MPG's go south is when you are on and off the throttle and blasting WOT corner to corner. I think that's what most guys do because that's what makes this sled so much fun.

Agreed! It's nice to know so you can feather it and make the next stop if needed. My Machz's got 9 to10. Not 11, not 8. Only way to get 11mpg was off a 10 mile cliff with the engine off.

Does anyone make a MPG fuel gauge that you can put in the incoming & outgoing fuel lines?
Even an hourly gauge would at least let me know where the "sweet" spot is. The actual best MPG riding rpm if i ever had to make a fuel run from the get go.
Slower is not always better. Everyones may be different due to clutching also.
I remember my Apex got much better MPG at 60 then 30. Probably the clutches were at a more "relaxed" gear ratio.
I think this 'Winder is good at about 6000 rpm's. Not 100 percent sure yet...

Good idea. With today's tech it can't be too hard. But like Johnny Skeptical would say, half the fun is not knowing where you're going to run out (or break down)!

Best part is same MPG as the 1200 Doo and 850 Doo I was riding with.

I thought that 850 would do way better, but we were riding in some hard pulling stuff for the most part. 850 owner was none too impressed with his 850 from a handling and performance standpoint, real disappointed with it actually. 1200 owner traded in for a SideWinder after one ride on mine. LOL!

Yeah....I always hear how great they are on mileage...I always figured if the plugs are burning good on a 2 stroke, that's as good as it gets. When running hard, they all have to burn fuel. A 600 cat guy found that out years back when he said he gets great mileage. I had a formula III, and said there's one more gas stop before we get back...anybody need any? Had a few takers, but not the cat. I didn't take any but really should have....and set as blistering a pace as I could for the last 15 miles but conserving too. He ran dry!! LOL. So much for best in class mileage...of the day...

Joe, while I agree being in & out of the throttle can't help. How is a sled holding a steady 60mph vs a steady 40mph going to give better mpg?

Personally, I was getting better fuel economy is the slower trails of Wisconsin. Who knows?
