new to the RX-1....have a few questions....first off being Im not getting recommended top rpm's.....im only gettting at best 10,000-10,100.....I would like to know if adding/subtracting the washers in the secondary will gain my the rpms i need....secondly it has great power and no hesitation or bog but always sputters/farts at low speed.....very little rpms going through a bumpy trail etc.....thinking maybe bad pilot's.....havent pulled the carbs off yet but will be tonight or tommorow....I noticed the famous clutch noise at idle...I know its fine and expected and not actually the clutch so im not worried as Im told to turn the idle up a little to 1800....I was told that if it did not drop right down to idle after you let off the throttle etc and reved a little that it may be bad pilots....I have this problem...it sometime takes a sec for the rpms to drop making it very hard to adj. the idle set screw properly...any insight or info would be helpful....

Welcome aboard,

Only use 87 octane or you will lose RPM'S, I didn't believe till I switched from 91 to 87 and got my RPM'S right back to 10.200-10.400, for the RATTLING part like you said up the IDLE and it'll be fine and for your sputtering and bog problem is DIRTY carbs if you don't use a good quality STABALIZER in your gas during the off season the pilots are so small on these they plug up with VARNISH a good cleaning and make sure to SYNC your carbs and she'll be fine drain all your old gas out of your tank and fill her up with fresh 87 octane and let her GO!!! you might also want to check your COILS for arcing and spark plugs while your at it.

Thanks for the info....I use regular 87 octane however....I think a little cleaning of the carbs and sync will take care of my sputtering....I still need to know if adding/subrt washers in my secondary will gain my any rpm's.....if there any stock adjustments you can do on these clutches...? I have an ECP kit/Apex seat/2" ROX pivot riser coming right now for it....also put precision skis on it...adjust the susp a little....also gonna trade my stock clutches for another members clutches that already have a HC kit and roller secondary....hopefully this will get me a little different feeling of a sled to start with....
