SingleShot rear suspension???

I don't think the rails look like they were sourced / copied from Cat. I've spent a lot of time working on TSL skids and it didn't cross my mind that the Singleshot was related. The front arm and the way it attaches to the rails, yes, very similar to Cat. The rear coupler block portion reminded me more of the Polaris Edge style rear. Wade West, Yamaha’s snowmobile marketing manager, said the suspension “felt like it had better anti-bottoming and was a little bit more plush, particularly in the continuous chop, where it’s real buttery.” - from Snowgoer online.
Final calibration, we will see! It is very minimalistic in design for sure.

Yes, the similarities are the reasoning behind my post. I too thought the coupling blocks were directly the same as an old poo design. Can this be new, or is it a combo. Frankly, a marketing manager is going to tell you anything he has to, to sell a product. It happens everyday in a boardroom.
The on edge people here are ridiculous. It all got real in 14, and every year since. Maybe worse than those expressing their opinions of disappointment. If nobody cared, then nobody would be upset. If any maturity remains here we can still discuss possibilities but it seems there are too many that think otherwise.

Lots of skids look simular ....so what? Unless you work for Cat & or Yamaha you have no idea & just seeing what you want see. In all OEM relationships there is cross fertilization of products & the reason for the relationship in the first place. DUHHHHH.... This is a good thing not a bad thing when companies can exchange info & ideas & bring something new to market.....who cares what name is on it? .... does it work well or not is the question? I worked in OEM sales & marketing for 25 years & the crap thrown out on web about the Yamaha /AC OEM relationship is so stupid & unfounded that I just sit at my keyboard & laugh at the level of ingnorance displayed. OEM realtionships are a good thing & darn good for Yamaha to get exposure of new quick to market engineering & mfg tech. If any OEM needs help with skids it is Yamaha & if AC has influence I say "So What!!"

I'm not sure about "cross fertilization", is that from plant to plant, or animal to animal, :dunno:,lol. I sure didn't say it was a bad thing either. I just really see similarities that say it ain't all Yami.

We are both being repetitive ...I see progress you are hung up on whose idea it was/is. To me just doesn't matter new is new & I hope AC did in fact influence Yamaha with skid tech & how can that be a bad thing?...That is what is supposed to happen with OEM agreements. You help me & I help you is a healthy OEM relationship.

Does it work better thats what I want to know. Only fox float on all models hmmm I know some people here on TY that won't like that. I want to see and feel it try it for myself. Glad the Apex is still around and I may pick one up in a few years if there are any left over.

Ok...wait...so it's exactly the same as the old cat skid....except it's not...no...wait...the coupling blocks are a copy of Polaris...

Everything on the skid is different on the yamaha skid than the old cat skid with the exception of the front arm mount is a tri-angle and even that part is different. All the mount points are different on the rail, wheel positions differ, arm design is completely different, on and on...but the coupling blocks look like a Polaris??? Ummm....

I'm all for being mature but honestly....look (with your eyes) at the two skids...I can't find a single part that would have come from the AC parts bin..if you want maturity quit it with the make believe...

Looks like the rear suspension out of my 2010 nytro rtx se minus the front shock and rear torsion springs. IMG_20141106_200440_978.jpg

It would interesting to know if that air shock would work in my rear suspension.

Well my skid has the transfer block aft of the rear scissors and holes in rails for the forward blocks. Instead of the forward blocks the nytro rtx se has a rear limiter strap. I am temped to remove front skid shock and see what happens. Maybe grizztracks could comment on how this worked out for him when he broke his front skid shock in half last year and destroyed his track from his broken shock.

Yes it does look a lot like yours, way more than the artic cat suspension...

Man who gives a crap what it looks like. If you built sleds and another company hit a home run, I'd sure as hell follow suit and try to improve on it. Some people are too bored.

One thing I know for sure is that I have a 2007 M8 Cat skid in my 04 RX1M. The skid doesn't look anything like the Slingshot. I am having a hard time with its simplicity and absence of a shock at the front scissor. It is really strange to see no shock of some kind there (I am not saying it is not going to work or that I don't like it).
