Ski and carbide thread...

Going to try my SLP powder pro with 6" stud boy shapers and 90 studs , but I'm thinking the shaper bar is going to be alittle to aggressive may go to a round bar on the SLPs or just put the stock skis back on and run 6" woodys trailblazer

The first night on my xtx with the stock carbides I was having darting. The next morning I went to the Yamaha dealer to check carbides. They didn't have what I wanted so I went next door to the Arctic Cat dealer and they set me up with the dual staggered carbides. That eliminated all darting. I do get some push in the corners. I may look into some other ski's.

SLP Powder Pro's with 6" Woody's Trail Blazer Iv's for me.

From hard packed to loose and deeper off-trail, this setup does everything I want it to. The biggest thing I noticed was reduced steering effort which helps to deal with the extra weight of the sled.

Here you can see them in action while I'm cruising around on a new (to me) trail on the Gunflint Trail in Northern Minnesota.

If you watch until the end you'll see what happens when my buddy gets a little too much push in a corner on his Switchback... lol.

Good Times!

Oh, and you'll want to turn your volume down.. I haven't had a chance to edit the wind noise out.. I need to use my case from now on.

I just switched back to the stock ski's with 6" dual carbides. I stopped at the Arctic Cat dealer but they didn't have the StudBoy Duece bars (what Studroes144 uses/suggested) ...they all ride the Procross chassis sleds and said they all ditched the staggered carbides and go with either 6" or 8" Double Down runners by SnowStud. I bought a pair of the 6" Double Downs and put these on the stock ski's. I did a couple of miles around the yard and the first thing I noticed (compared to the Pilots) was the steering effort is MUCH easier. They also didnt push like I experienced with the Pilots. At this point I am still hoping for more snow so the trails can open and get some better testing in...

LTX 141 with the Ripsaw II no studs. Put Woodys 4" duals on the stockers right off the showroom. Lifted the limiter strap 1 hole and took out the transfer blocks. Works great. No darting, no nothing. Point and it goes there.

limiter strap

I was looking at my limiter straps tonight and not seeing any holes to make adjustments. Guys am I not seeing something?

;)!

Maybe it's more of a suspension issue? My sled turns with little effort and holds its line really well. It hunts a little at slower speeds but is otherwise super stable.

I'm not running studs which I think prevents the rear to slide around in corners. My experience so far has been that lateral track slide is an integral part of the cornering stability of this sled. The little bit of slide keeps the inside ski planted and prevents push. I've noticed that in corners where the rear doesn't slide a little that the corner is a lot harder to negotiate. I've been contemplating going to a Cobra track but they don't slide much at all so I'm hesitant to do that.

If you watch my video and pause it mid corner you will see that the sled pitches sideways a bit which points the front of the sled toward the exit of the corner nicely.. Then it hooks back up when I get on the gas and drives forward.
