ski covers for trailer loading?

I have searched for the "ski covers" that Yamaha makes for loading your snowmobile on the trailer.

The dual carbide Pilots seem to be grabbing the aluminum ramp on my 2 place enclosed trailer. I have a non slip cover on the ramp, but it is still catching.

What are the boots called? Do you get them from Yamaha or do you use
SLP SKI SLIPS? Part number or picture would be nice. I cant find them on Port Yamaha's site either.

Thanks

I don't use ski covers, I use the retractable wheels and they work great for getting on or off my enclosed trailer. They are also great on lockstone or paved driveways and in the garage as well to prevent carbide damage. Best part is you can steer with them. You may want to consider looking at a set of them intead of the covers.

I cannot comment on a Yamaha specific part but Sno-Stuff make a universal ski boot that I have seen used. Dennis Kirk carries them.

Sno-Stuff Universal Black Ski Boots
Dennis Kirk Part #: 10317
Manufacturer Part #: 503505

X2... Great for maneuvering around gas stations too.

They are called Ski Boots & I bought 3 sets of them from Dennis Kirk
a few years back. I don't know if they still sell them anymore but you
might check out other suppliers.

Try these; sold by Injection Plastics Mfg. Co. Inc.

I recently purchased those but I am not sure if they are going to work on my enclosed trailer?

I tested them and seen where I would have to mount them and they look short?
I am also curious what keeps them up when not in use, could end up being a big pain,,,,, which teaches me a lesson for not thinking things through! :o|

I've been using these for the last three years on my Triton enclosed trailer; so has a friend of mine, it works unbelievably great, not even a hint of catching a carbide.

There are several types of these out there for sale; these are the best.

Any tips on chasing down "retractable wheels?
Are there any downside to them??? If so,,,,,
Seems these are a nice to know about type item...

I bought mine at the local Royal Distributing. Mine are made by Rouski. I think you can buy directly from the manufacturer out of Quebec (I think). They are not the only ones that make these, I believe there are others as well.

Page 206-207.

Is it the wheelz kit?

Yes it is.

As far as I know there are 3 different manufacturers of ski wheels:

1) RollerSki (http://www.qualipieces.com/)
2) SkiWheelz (http://www.rouski.ca/)
3) Retrax (http://www.retrax.net/)

Personally I think the RollerSki is a better design because it attaches/replaces the axle pin, and by doing so can handle the weight of the sled. The SkiWheelz attach to the bolts of your carbides, so really you are lifting the sled by the bolts attached to the carbides. I've 'heard' that Retrax's freeze up and therefore do not operate when such... I can not comment one way or another.

Anyway I put a set of RollerSki's on my Apex and a set of SkiWheelz on my RX1 this winter. Should be a good head to head comparision by seasons end.

Where did you buy the Rollerski from and how much?

Just went to my local Yamaha dealer and they had the information. It costed about $360. Here is the manufacturer's phone number 1-877-474-4272, they can tell you who is authorized to sell in Wisconsin or might sell direct.
