Anyone ever use a bolt through the back of your ski as an ice scratcher? If so? Where did you mount it and how did it work? I have tunnel mounted scratchers on order but they won't be here for awhile as they are back-ordered. I will be doing alot of lake riding this weekend and there is very little snow left. I just put new slides on my Attak and would like to keep them in decent condition for next year!

Yes, I ran 3/8" sharpened bolts on my skis a couple years ago for running on Lake of the Woods. Worked great. Mounted just slightly inward of center at the tail of my PowderHounds. The tail of the Slydog skis angle up a bit so the bolts actually sweep back slightly instead of straight down. This allows them to ride over any obstacle. Just don't try backing up on them and make sure to remove them before loading back up on the trailer

They are around 4" long, with several nuts as jam nuts and heavy washers. You will need to play with the length sticking below the ski a bit to get the right length for good spray without excessive drag. I installed them once out on the lake and took a couple wrenches along to adjust. Surprisingly didn't screw up handling like I thought they would.

Check you-tube, seen a couple vids with the ski/bolt set-up, seems to work great.
