so the bushing in a ski spindle on my old yami is rusted to the bolt and I got the nut off but I have soaked it in wd and it still wont push through or out... any advice when you get metal on metal that welds itself together? thanks

Heat and a lot of it or a BFH

Be careful heating aluminum, seems to get heating nice and then pooooof, its gone; literally disappears just a heads up. I would just leave it in a bucket of WD for a while then press it out. (can use a press of a bench vise to do it)

great advice.... hard spot to work with though as it's till on the ski :drink: cant soak the whole ski LOL... I guess I will keep flooding it with pb blast etc.

What kind of sled? I assume your talking about a older sled with TSS front suspension?? I wouldn't take a hammer and do to much beating on it if its attatched to the sled. If you can take the spindle or strut off the sled and get it in a vice or against a solid surface and then beat on it, it should come out. If you've been soaking it for awhile it should be pretty easy. The ski spindle bushings in my 91 Phazer II ST were completely FUBAR'ed seized solid last fall and I pulled both strut assemblies off the sled. Kind of a PITA but they will eventually come out.

I call it the die grinder my friend, cut the bolt they are cheaper than a spindle.

edit: lol didnt read the last post hes spot on!

I cut the bolts off of mine with a die grinder also. Problem is the remaining bolt and bushing were seized up almost like it was welded inside the spindle knuckle. I agree getting the ski off is easy.

she is older as you guys guessed.. an 89 sno scoot. I am going to try and get a sawzall between the saddle and the spindle...the bolt and bushing are probably shot, but maybe some soaking will separate them IF I can get the spindle out. :o| thanks for all the advice and thoughts..
