i noticed a crack at the front my skid where the inner idler wheel bolt is located.

I cuffed a sharp ditch a week ago and it looks like it hit the idler and levered it enough to crack the rail

Planning to remove both inner idlers, and drill the crack to get me through this season.

Question- is this something that can be welded or is it best to search for a new rail?

Any previous experience In this would be helpful.

Picture would help, but I have welded them with a path over he crack for extra strength depending on the area.

Had that happen to mine. Had it welded and it broke again in short order. Have it reinforced at the crack with another piece on top because a weld alone won't hold.

The fine black line is the crack.

My thoughts exactly. A weld alone won't be enough.

Im not sure if you are familiar with Ken Ferguson? At the end of the season, take it to him, if he says it can be welded, it can. He will only charge you 20-30 bucks.

If you cant get it welded, I have a mint spare skid i use for parts if you need a frame rail.

Thanks guys.
Took the idlers out today and drilled the crack.
Will finish the season like that.
