looking at new skis and exhaust for an 04 mtn . Considering slp powder pros or the 05 yamaha skis. Any recomendations between the two? Also inquiring about aftermarket exhaust. White knuckle performance makes the QC1 and QP 1. Has anyone had any experience putting the QP1 on a mountain sled being as it is recomended for race purposes. It is lighter and puts out 2 more horse than the QC 1. There is just never any mention of it. :?:

I rode the QP 1 last year and it is cool but VERY LOUD I put the QC 1 on this year and love it!! as for the Skis it all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. Powder Pros are more $ but they are lighter so if you are looking to loose wt I would go PP but I like the looks and the price of the Yami Ski so it is a tuffy I am gunna wait to see which handles better and then make a choice

The other thing to remember about the Yamaha mountain ski is you can use your stock ski handles and carbides, which can further save you money. Stock carbides should be easier to find in stock.

I am trying to get a feel for how loud is loud. I have seen the clips for the QP-1 and QC-1 with the turbo. The turbo supposedly quiets down the QP-1. hotshot did you notice a performance difference between the 2. Thanks for the info on the skis

Redman - I race with the GP1, and it is earbleeding when opened up! But if you have a turbo, the turbo takes most of the loudness out, so it has a nice tone to it. I also have the QC1 for trail, and I love it! It has the sound of a Vance & Hines bike sound, (and is decible friendly too).

I did not notice a large enough seat of my pants feel but it deffinitly sounded faster!! But I had to pack ear plugs for the rest of the guys I rode with.

I have the QC-1 and I too like it very much. Yes it's lighter and my personal opinion is it could be just a bit louder. Now, I have an open baffled Staintune pipe on my BMW F-650 and I just LOVE that so I may be a bit tainted.
Personally, I'd go with one of these under the tunnel exiting exhausts. The snow should dampen the sound but then again the sound may be erratic? How about one that cones straight out the back but retains the tail light?
I notice that I continually melt the top of the toe of my boots while riding in powder on my RX-1 mountain. This is because I am riding on one knee jumping back and forth to stay on the high side and the tip of my boot is always over one of the exhausts. This is why I'd recommend one that comes out of the center of the back (are you listening Yamaha)?

I still like the sound of the gutted exhaust the best. It was free and saved 7 lbs.
The Yamaha skis look like the best bang for the buck. One thing they have over the SLP is they are adjustable.

No way Jonny me boy, that hacked up exhaust sounds like a boat with an V-8 inboard on start up. It's ok afterward but it's NO WHERE NEAR as cool as an exhaust that some of us spent hundereds of dollars on I must admit the price was right though.

Whatever. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. My FREE exhaust sounds a lot better that that money pit you bought.

$250 CAD to buy the ski bases, spacers, sleeves & bolts to change over the skis, right from Yamaha. You can reuse the handles & runners. Don't know what it weighs, I can weigh a complete one for you tomorrow if you like? I am in the process of tracking & turboing my sled so will be working on it at the shop tomorrow and will gladly pop one off and weigh it for you.

I've seen somewhere on Snowest.com that they were weighed in at 2lbs lighter than the saddled-'03-'04 skis. The USD price i think is 95$/per, plus the bold kit (like 1$ each), plus the bracket kit (2/per ski at 1.50$/side).... so for everything you're looking at like 200$ or a shade under (i think my dealer told me it was like 190$). I'm about to spring for them next weekend. ...good stuff, those.
